I passed a group of 600cc bikes (looked to be 2 R6's and one unknown blue bike). After I get to the next light and stopped. Out of the corner of my right eye I see the blue bike do a stoppie and lose it, him and his female passanger were ejected. The passanger was wearing a tank top and jean, at least they both had helmets on...they looked to be high school age. I just looked over and they jumped up, after seeing that they were okay and moving I figured no need to help the squid.

The R6 dude rode up and yelled at the down iker to hurry up and pick the bike up...kept yelling that to him. So I yelled back "Another Squid goes Down...LOL"...light changes for me and I leave.

I do not condon that type of riding, you go down you pay the price. Besides I am sure the other automobile drivers there were pissed that an idiot tried to do a stunt with a passanger ont he back...but because they were not seriously hurt I bet he tried it again.

I guess if you have their permission, then hey, they made the choice. The only person I let on the back is my GF and I would never stunt with her on because she's the one that's supposed to take care of me when I wreck. If we both go down, who's gonna give me soup and hummers?

I ride w/ chicks sometimes and sometimes I'll do some little wheelies w/ them on the back. I think I would have stopped if I saw some people thrown from the bike, regarldess if they were "squidding it." I hate to see anyone go down..

Thats sux to see a rider go down,
I guess if you have their permission, then hey, they made the choice.
I feel the same way, I wont do it, but I dont care if some one else does. A buddy I ride with pulls nice 2nd gears all day long with his girl on. But they are suited up.

squids

I just think no matter how someones rides a bike whether they are a so called squid or not ...you should stop and help them,no matter if it was them showing off or whatever ..truthfully i think you are the squid for not stopping and helping them out ..i am sure the guy felt like an ass as it was..there was no need for you to yell shit at him . what your a twisty rider if you went down in the twisty would you like it if i rode by and didn't help you ,,instead just pulled over and laughed at you because you think you are on a race track ..anyways my 2 cents is no matter what help a fallen rider

Come on I am sure that things would have been different if the :squid didn't have anyone there and if the idiots weren't getting up and leaving agian. If you are stunting with someone on the back fine but at least take the responsibility to have them wear gear if you aren't. I don't know about any of you but the wire brush isn't fun.

squid

just one question does everyone on this site think that if a person riding isn't as good as them or doesn't like to do the same things as them they are a squid..damn ride for yourself stop hatin on everyone ..i think anyone who calls someone a squid is a squid keep it to yourself ..i thought this board was for fun,not to figure out how many people are squids on bikes.

#13 ·
Yeah, even though it was squidly behavior, I would have stopped to see if rider and passenger were okay. By not helping and just making fun of them, you are not really doing anything to stop that behavior, and one day one of them might really get hurt.

But anyways, like previous posts have stated, ride for yourself and do what you want. Everyone is different and we all make our own choices.

It has nothing to do with riding well or doing the same as everyone else. It has to do with being stupid and giving sport riders a bad name and raising my damn insurance rates. You want to go down a back road and pull that with a chick on the back then have a GREAT TIME! You roll up to a stop light next to me with my kids in the car driving recklessly and wipe out, screw you.

i know where your coming from i have a child too. but all i am saying is.. i don't think people should call people squids for doing something they like ..i don't think people who stunt are out to give sport riders a bad name.opinions very. who is to say its stupid, yeah its stupid to do it in traffic if you don't know what you are doing. my 2 cents is i htink the guys is an ass for not stopping to atleast ask if they were ok. no matter what he thought of them doing stupid shit. he is like the typical ass ona harley that doesn't wave to people.

I have never taken a passenger on my 6, I wouldnt want to put someone through that. Part of the reason I bought the solo seat is so I can honestly say to would-be passengers that I don't have a back seat.

As far as stunting with a passenger, I'm against it for the reason that I don't want to be responsible for their injuries if I screw up. If I mess things up playing around on some deserted road by myself, then I just have to live with the damage to me and my bike, and not having someone's injuries on my mind as well.

Just my .02 :blahblahb

hey, i was the guy on the gsxr1000 (black red and silver), and if you knew your a$$ from a hole in the wall you would know the blue one was a gsxr600.

now lets get to the real issue. yes he biffed a stoppie with a passenger, yes no one was hurt. I asked if they were both alright and then told him to pick it up down bike + cop = ticket.

now the squid thing. squid is a term used by people who are jealous, scared, or just insecure about their own ability. That guy that went down has ridden quads since he was 4. he will hand you your a$$ on anything with a motor(street track or dunes). Crashes happen, especially if you stunt. He rides everything to it's breaking point and has crashed nearly every machine he owns with his girl. She likes the thrill, and encourages him to have fun. and how a guy that has NO insurance is going to raise the rates on your bike, i don't know.

thirdly if i were to define a squid, it would be a guy that does 70+mph in a 50, sees a motorcyclist (or stunter) go down, and drives away with a holier than thou attitude.

basically, eat shi+ and next time you see us, try, and i do mean try, to follow us around the proving grounds, hankard(hell), etc.

even though you are scum in my book if i saw you crash i would still stop to lend a hand.

-peace

PS we are all over 21

First of all I was stopped as I was in the lane to the left of the guy already at the light. I did look over and they were up and walking, no need to jump off the bike, and ask...if they were hurt and needed help then yeah I would of called 911 for them and did whatever I could....no one was hurt so who cares. Second he was with your group I assumed because it seemed liked you guys and the Black Taurus were all hanging together and I did not see you jump off your bike to help him out either. Besides he could of taken me out if he tried that shit behind me, so yeah I was pissed.

About the 70mph in a 50 zone, hmmm you guys were going a hell of a lot faster then that. It is hard for you to complain about the speed when you were doing the same.

The cop thing does not equal ticket. First off a cop would have to see you do the stoppie. If the cop did not see the stoppie then no big deal because you can tell him you just tipped it over, lost balance, foot slipped, no biggy.

If the girl is okay with no gear on then I guess her loss one day. Still an operator of a motor vehicle should never put the passenger in danger, I am not 100% free of this, but I have never done anything dumb on a bike with a passenger onboard even if they WANT to do it.

I always love someone pulling the; I ride ATV’s since I was 1 attitude (we are talking motorcycles, I could careless about your ability on an ATV), or bike, or whatever, and I am better then you. That is the same as the ones that claim to be able to kick another’s ass without even knowing that person…LOL You do not know me from jack so do not try to make claims you can not support.

If it matters I have been riding since I was 5 years old on dirt bikes, mopeds, street bikes. Does that make me better then your friend or you!!! It might I have no clue, I do not know you or your friend, I’ll be the first here to admit maybe he is a better rider then me, so what…what does that prove anyways if he is?

any sportbike rider that is as addiment about the sport, such as you say you are, would be able to recognize a suzuki gsxr and an R6 when both are wearing stock paint and badges. Some might dub you a "squid" just for that. but i won't.

I can appreciate and respect any one that does not condone stunting on a public road. however the fact is, it started on the streets and it's always going to exist on public roads. that is a fact of life. not everyone has a lakeland dragstrip. so deal with it. most guys take it to a vacant lot and then play it off as they are being responsible. when in all actuality they have to behave on the street because their license depends on it.

the only thing i do agree with you about is her lack of protection, thus why he's buying her a leather, gloves, and a nice helmet. It didn't take any convincing on our part for that decision.

a "squid" is in the eyes of the beholder. i agree that a beginner rider that would rather wheelie than turn is out of his element. Most likely get hurt, and hopefully not endanger others. That i agree is pretty dumb. however when straight edged riders just throw the term "squid" at the first guy to pull a wheelie, that too seems pretty dumb. after all, a wheelie, stoppie, etc, is just a show of control, skill, balls, whatever you want to call it. crashing also comes with any exhibition. A bike was designed to be on two wheels not one, and to remove a key element is risky. hell, if rossi or mladin wash out, do you jump up and scream squid and start laughing. even the pros wipe out, even if it is a stunt gone wrong, it definatley isn't a laughing matter.

this is not an internet pissing match nor is it going to be an internet karate match.
you stated your opinion. i stated mine. I'll ride with anyone as long as they seem to be in control. in fact, if we run into you again, i hope you tag along, the more the merrier.

who cares just ride the way you have the most fun, and don't put innocent people in danger. (we never pull tricks in the same lane, there is some ettiquette when being "wreckless")

I'm sorry if I upset you with the R6 mistake...lol I know that must suck to be compared to a Yamaha...hehehe Actually I have no clue what bikes have what graphics nowadays...they seem to change faster then I read up on them. I am sure I will see you again, I was playing on that road for 10 or so laps....I go there for the high speed ability although the cops wait in spots I know the spots to speed and not too...LOL Usually that road can add something eciting to your day, that is where I had a cool RT/10 Viper smoke his tires and drag me from 3 lights.

13 mile south to Grand River is the best part for high speed, and the ability to lean over at 130-140mph on a left-hand sweeper.

Also Milford Proving Grounds is nice, plus some good twisties just north of East Lansing.

yep. that's our normal route to commerce/proving grounds from farmington. I personally like the road for floating standups and my buddies like it for the speed limit/stop lights for endoes. Personally endoes aren't my bag basically because.......well......you saw what can happen, passenger or not. If you like zipping around the proving grounds, be careful. We've laid low since the cops had a talk with us after 5 phoned in complaints about us. couldn't prove it was us so no tickets. If you know some good roads for corner carving maybe we should hook up. that is if you can tolerate some "wreckless" activities.

and no, iwould never ride a yamaha. although my buddies fz1 convinced me to trade in my sv650s for a gsxr1000 last year.

Sure maybe we can meet up sometime.

Some Roads to try:
N. Hickory Ridge Rd (past M59) there is a nice curvy part going down hill, the rest is straight and good for high speed.

Out near Proving Grounds:
Pleasant Valley Rd.
Kensington Rd.
W. Commerce Rd.
N. Hickory Ridge Rd.
Stobart Rd.

Take I96 to Lansing to Okemos Rd exit 110.
Turn left and then turn left at first road (Sandhill Rd).
Take Sandhill till it ends then go left, there is a hard right turn that is fun, then follow this road and it will be curvy and have fun straights. You will now be on Stillman Rd. Stilman Rd. ends at Meridan, which if you go right then turn left at first paved road you can make your way back east doing this on paved roads that are fun and out in farm country so no cops and no people.

Just north of East Lansing:
Take Chandler to Round Lake Rd. There are a ton of curvy roads, just explorer that area and you will be surprised, again no cops and farm country so no worries at all.

I rode over to Algonac once, was going to do the ferry to "St. Clair Flats State Wildlife Area" but when I got there I decided not too...lol I just did not feel like paying for the ferry service to get over there. Looks like a few good roads there too, and most likely no cops hanging out there to bother me...lol

Feel free to email me, this weekend looks like rain, plus I got to take the doggy to the specialist for some outragous test. But maybe we can get together in another week or during the work week when no one is on the road.

My email (modette@yamahafz1.net)

Also a good software package for maps if you do not have it, is Microsoft Streets & Trips 2004. It is worth the $30, and it usually has some sort of rebate at the store...good for researching roads and see which ones I have not hit yet.
