Not entirley sure I'm right here but chunk will correct if wrong.

It could be a 2000 engined model that has been registered in 2001 but will be obvious as it will not have LED rear light etc.

If you've got LED's (not an undertray mod though) then it's definetly a 2001.

Can't remember the exact engine changes but they were only minor. I guess there is just a slight difference in jet sizes between the two.

The 2001 Model year bike has round LED tail lights and undertray.

Some owners have performed this mod themselves so it is not 100%.

Under the seat there will be a sticker with a code number on - 2001 bike code is 5MT1 - 060 for a blue bike.

Up to 2000 the ECU (under the seat) has 2 plugs going into it, whereas the 2001 on bike has just the 1. The clocks are also slightly different, the mirrors have longer thin stems etc. if you post up a pic we will be able to tell.

Its got 5EB5 on the sticker so I guess its a 2000
It had the old rear lights too but they had to go.

my bike is 2001 but a 2000 model, first owner must have got a good deal on it cause if i had the choice i would have taked the LED light 2001 over the 2000 model!

I think that is on US versions

I have just had the same trouble with the frame number on a GSXR750 which turns out to be a 2001 US import.
