Tire age

I know that with tires you typically do not want to keep them past 10 years after it was made (week+year label on the side). I have a rear Michelin Pilot tire that was made in 2010. It’s brand new and still wrapped in plastic and been kept in the garage for about 9 years (don’t ask…) Would you use it, not for burnouts, but weekend rides? Or $200 not worth the risk? If it was front, I wouldn’t even ask. But rear…? Eh…

Sure. No longer rides but for local stuff why not. The compound has probably dried up a bit but like you said, it’s the rear.

Thank you. I decided not to risk it for $165 and got new Pirelli Diablo set. Anyone in NY Long Island area needs a tire for burnouts, PM me.
