Stock suspension settings

2903 Views 9 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  okx
I bought my bike used and did not like the way it rode at all, so i used the settings from sportbikerider to set the bike up and those have worked fine, but recently my girlfriend has moved in with me so she is a passenger a lot now and the settings are way too rough with her on the back

so i was wondering if anyone could give me the stock suspension settings so i could start from scratch, thanks for your help in advance

ps. i searched and couldnt find anything, sorry if this has already been answered .

I have a 2005, so the settings might be different.

I believe that the stock setting for the forks is:

- Preload: 6 lines showing
- Rebound: 1 less click out from full stiff than Sportrider
- Compression: I believe this was 8 clicks out from full stiff and 6 clicks out on the stock set up.

Rear shock:

- Preload: Stock is 4th click from full soft (I believe SportRider is 5th click out from full soft)
- Rebound: can't remember.... have to check at home but I think it is two clicks softer than the SportRider setting (i.e. if SR was 6 clicks out from full stiff, Stock would be 8 clicks out from full stiff)
- Compression: I believe that SportRider had this 10 clicks out from full stiff and Stock is 8 clicks out from full stiff.

If you want, I can check these out at home as I have written them down on a notepad since I have been trying to fine tune my suspension setup as well.

it would be great if you could do that for me, the only thing im in question of is the 05 has the inverted front forks so i dont know if that changes anything, but again i really appreciate it :bowdown
bump does someone else have the rest of this? i know more than 1 guy can help me out here ... please ?
I have this written down:

Stock Suspension:

Front: Preload is 6 lines showing, Compression Damping is 6 clicks out from full stiff, and Rebound damping is 6 Clicks from full stiff

Rear: Preload is 4 clicks from full soft, Compression Damping is 8 clicks from full stiff, and Rebound damping is 8 from full stiff.

This is what I observed for my 2005 when I was switching to the Sport Rider setup.
quick question about suspension setting. when u click left or right does it stop? or keeps going til u break somethin?
just turn it until it stops or does not click anymore, then turn it back a notch. (that would be max).
The way I understood the setup was that you turn to full stiff (which is clockwise until no more clicks) and then you start turning counter clockwise and count the first click as 1 click from full stiff.

I may be wrong on this, and someone please correct if so as I will have to go and add a click to all my settings, on my bike then!
