Should i ride it????

my 01 R6 has developed the 2nd gear popout prob and is sometimes a lil hard to get into 3rd gear. Its not really too bad at the moment just apparent when i rev 2nd out to 9000rpm or so then it starts to feel like its jumping/gripping then not gripping the rear tyre.

i know i must fix it asap but was just wondering if its still ok to ride the bike without doing any damage to the rest of the box

i wont ride it hard and will just try to bypass 2nd gear

will it be ok to do this or would it be best to not ride the bike at all?

any help would be much appreciated

thanks

Alex

Agreed
awesome thanks guys

i already rode to work this morning as i had whithdrawls from not riding...so yeh i just took it easy and short shifted at 4000rpm or so

how long have u guys been riding with the 2nd gear prob?
Its not a question of rpm, but throttle position. If I full throttle at 4000 rpm it will jump by 5000. But if I put slight throttle on it, it will go to the redline without a jump.
Do remember that every slip of the gear grinds more metal into your oil, so be conservative.
hey GTI-R6 it might be the detent spring. Im still waiting on mine to be shipped in before I check up on it. I know I coulda checked anyways but Im kinda lazy so when the part gets here then Ill check:thumbup . Ill keep you posted on what I find and if my solution fixes it. I get that click-ti-clunk noise when I ride hard from 1st to second tryin to keep up with some zx-10s and it pops to nuetral and I have to shift to second again. Pretty annoying if you ask me.:furious
