Only that AFAM is superior. Haha, too!
All sprockets work the same. It's not as if the cheaper ones don't fit up properly, but the better ones will last a lot longer. In my expierence AFAM will last about twice as many highway miles than vortex. Go to www.drivesystemsusa.com and give them a call at 800 290 9040 for AFAM stuff. They're usually a bit cheaper than any of the online vendors.

whats he said. and just go 15/50 screw 49.
^+1 I would recommend 15/50 if you are doing the change.

Also...dont forget about a Speedo Healer. :thumbup
six in one hand.......half dozen in the other.............lol that basically means there is really no difference between the two brands, I myself run AFAM sprockets and a DID ERV3 chain, Ive noticed that the Renthal are very hard to come by. as said by others check out the board sponsors, theyll hook you up.
tell you what...

take a look at the hard coated black Vortex sprocket and I guarantee you won't buy anything else. It's flipping tough looking. Very aggressive tooth pattern. Check 'em out...

my brother just bought that for his o5 r1 and man what a difference in appearance. I'm partial to Vortex products anyways though. While you're there, they make some of the easiest and coolest rear stands. Just do your homework and then decide...
I have used both with no isuues. all said and done, Alum sproket on teh street dont last for shit! Brand does not matter so much as 500 to 1000 miles more or less. Steel is the only way to go on the street
maybe you didn't read it. Skim it did ya?

Vortex Black Hard-Coated Sprockets are proven to last at least 30% longer than standard aluminum sprockets. The Hard-Coating is applied via a chemical treatment process that bonds the coating with the aluminum for the ultimate in durability. The Hard-Coating also has a higher resistance to corrosion than standard anodized sprockets.

Computer designed and machined from the highest quality 7075 aerospace aluminum. Saber tooth grooved for self-cleaning and electrically coated for a brighter finish. This sprocket will work with a 520 chain/sprocket setup

Sorry but alum will not last longer than steel. Even the vortex hard coated crap doesnt last as long as AFAM/Renthal sprockets...

As for the sprockets, get which ever one is cheaper and/or you like the looks of better. They are so close in performance/durability that it doesnt even matter. I actually have a renthal front and a afam rear and both show almost no wear.
does anyone make steel sprocket for the R6? just cause i do more street then anything, plus do they offer any additional colors
i looking into the 15/49 cause the chain stays in the same location as stock gears do, and i do alot of highway ,also they say the 15/50 is buzzy. does any one use 15/50 on the highways?
AFAM 15/50 DID 520ERV3
I honestly see NO reason to run steel sprockets unless your clutching wheelies constantly and stunting, my aluminum AFAM sprocket isnt showing any wear at this point with almost 4,000mi use

I second that. On my stock chain, the front sprocket was toast without the rear sprocket showing much wear. The extremely large rear sprocket (48T) of the R6 makes the front sprocket durability the limiting factor. I went with AFAM but heard good things about Renthal too. Can't really go wrong with either.

30% longer, Woop a Dee Do, Hold me back danger boy my nipples are tweaking!

I read it, it still does not change what I said. Alum sprocket dont last for shit in comparison with steel.

30% lets do the math. Avg life of an Alum rear sprocket 8000 miles when doing good maintaince. 30% of 8000 is 2400 so that's 10,400 if your DAMN lucky when using the makers inflated numbers.

Using steel you can get 15,000 doing half ass chain maintaince way over 20,000 if your good about it.

The steel sprockets are cheeper and last twice as long as the more expensive Alum. I do a good amount of street miles and dont want to replace a rear sprocket twice a year.
Renthal and AFAM are both good, I think you'd be happy with either. However, with that said, I would choose AFAM. Go with the AFAM 15 tooth steel front, 49 tooth black anodized aluminum rear, and replace your chain at the same time with a DID ERV3.

Here is a pic of my conversion, which is almost the same thing mentioned above, except it's a 15/50. PM sent with vendor info...

Hurry up and order that thing already. :)

so who makes steel 520 rear sprockets? since i clutch alot wheelies i just want the extra insuance of not shredding teeth.
