Yo ..

Im new to this so if im in the wrong section can some one tell me ... ?

Do i post my email adress ? [email protected]

i have a T plate R6

Anyways .. The problem im having is

when i turn on the ignition on my bike the clock lights all light up fine ... when i press the front brake / back break / headlights etc .. the whole lot go off untill i depress them ?

This problem keeps alternating and sometimes its all fine but the start button does not work ...

My bike was working fine the other day then i noticed the indicators where not working then it had a few back fires then it just cut out ... ?

Could this be a problem with the relay ... would this cause the roblem to be differnt all the time ?

Any help would be gratelly appreciated !

Thanks Daz

Howzit dude

What's a T plate R6?

Your clock lights, does it go off completely or just dimm a lot?
How much volts in your battery? A lota volts and amps needed to crank the motor...

If you have a 99 to 02 R6, it might be the voltage Rectifier episode.....
Yeah its a T - Reg ( 99 model ) Yamaha R6

I have been out and charged the battery and all seems ok with the lights now but there is nothing there when i press the start button ?

Do you think this could be the starter motor relay ?

The bike will not bump either?

again help would be appreciated

Daran
Damn....it doen't jump either.....have you checked you Ignition fuse, and the rectifier plug for signs of burning?
It sounds like there's no fire on your plugs aswell..... :umm
when my batt died on my 02, I popped the ignition fuse. Check there.

Check the cutoff switch :)
Cheers for you help

I think the cut off switch is working cos there is a noise that keeps clicking and when i hit the cut off switch it stops

However ... any ideas on how i can test this switch or any other ideas ?
Noise that keeps clicking I think is an indication of a near-dead battery. Try jumping the bike to a car battery and see if the problem goes away.

PS: mine does the click-click thing but still starts, so I'm just as puzzled as you are exept the bike seems to be fully functional even with the clicking.
Batteries can show good voltage on a meter until you put a load on them. How do you know your battery is good? How did you test it?
Its just a educated guess that the battery is ok ...

Im asuming because i have fully charged it that its ok ...

I then left the ignition on for 2 hours by mistake while i was messing around and there is stillloads of life left

As for the clicking ... this only happens when i tuen the ignition key on and lasts about 3-4 seconds ..... this isnt anything to do with the starter being pressed !

When i press the starter it makes no noise and doesnt drain the lights or anything

Ive spoke to auto electrician and hes told me to run a Earth from the battery to the frame to the engine so thats my first port of call

Secondly hes told me to try and short the solanoid out on the starter and this should start the bike ... if this be the casse then to work back through the bike from here and find where the bad connection is

Ill post a method of how i fixed it and the diagnosis when / If i ever get it fixed !!

Make that a bit more positive !! WHEN i get it fixed !!

Thansk For your help Men !!
