Problems wearing gear

Hey what are you guys wearing for riding gear in the hotter states? I have been riding for a year now, I have always worn a riding jacket up until this summer.

I am finding that I am just not enjoying riding anymore with my current jacket, which is a Fall/Winter type of jacket.

I am looking for input from people in states where it consistantly gets in the 90's and 100's, sitting in traffic and so forth. Most jackets provide adaquate airflow at 40+, I am sick of baking in traffic!

Thanks!

Baking in traffic is sorta part of the game. And to be honest, if it's 90+ degrees, you're gonna be hot regardless. However, once you start moving, my AStars SMX AirFlo jacket vents VERY well. I wear it every time I ride on the street.
get a mesh jacket. if you are riding around town you will be fine. wear your leather for the hard core stuff and the nights.
I don't trust mesh at all. Seen too many people get REALLY messed up in 45 mph (or less) accidents wearing mesh gear. Just get leather and tough it out, it's not that bad.
^^ if i had cephas's money to buy a SMX airflow, i would throw mine away

Once I get moving in my smx it just makes my sweat colder, but not dryer lol.
I hate riding in alot of traffic when it's hot out. Makes me lane spit to the front all the time. Super slab is great
A-star perfed Stunt jacket...
i don't trust the mesh...

:lol You mean Cephas's credit card debt...
so youd rather be cool riding in a Tshirt and risk serious rash over being a little hot in your gear and being protected??? remember sweat wipes away................rash doesnt
I wear my leather jacket no matter where I am going. With all of the vents open, it cools off rather quick once I'm moving. Depending where your going, why don't you just take a different route where there is less traffic?

Unless your cruising around the malls or city streets, I'm sure you could find another way. I only hit traffic for the first 5 minutes and once I get to the twisties, theres not many cars at all.
Under Armour! I wear it nearly every day in the warmer months, riding or not. Any breeze will cool you down. It doesn't help when sitting still, unless your jacket vents really well, but once you get moving, any air will cool you right off.

Isn't the SMX AirFlo part leather/part mesh? Just curious 'cause I decided against that jacket for that very reason. Was I mistaken?
maybe also consider a camelbak. Sitting still on the bike in 90+F in a tshirt will probably be pretty hot. Avoid stops if you can and get a camel bak to keep you hydrated.

I wear Under Armour under my leather jacket too!!!! Just suck it up and drive on...just remember to hydrate whenever you stop....a little sweat never hurts....road rash does!!!!:thumbup
I live in FL bro and I always wear my jacket. Its a full leather Teknic Lightning Jacket, AGV Stealth helmet and a pair of jeans. Hot as hell at a stop, but not bad when riding... Its all part of the game.

Well, sort of. The AirFlo does have a kind of mesh on the inside of the sleeves, but all of the surfaces that would contact the ground in a crash are 1.1mm leather. Cever wrecked in his and the mesh ripped a little, but it still did its job, and the leather was in the right places. I was speaking more of all mesh jackets, like JR's Phoenix.
I love my Joe Rocket Reactor 2.0 jacket... Great compromise of coolness of mesh with leather in the right places ie. shoulders, arms, elbows. , although I haven't tested it out yet, and hope not to. Probably not the best thing to be doing 100+ mph with but it'll keep ya cool during the regular 35mph stop and go city driving... Well as cool as you can be in 90 and 100 degree weather.

I had an older version of the Reactor jacket... It did okay when I wrecked in it, but the armor left a lot to be desired. Had the nature of my wreck involved more sliding and less rolling, I'm not sure I would have been in such good shape.
