I finally bought another house and it is a jungle. Who thought landscaping like this was a good idea? I can't wait to rip out the bushes.

Also, WTF were they thinking in the 50's? Pink and mint green?

I do like the hardwood floors and the fireplace though

Congrats man.. you got some work to do, but it'll be so worth it when you're done.
Thats a nice little place. I wish I could find something like that. They only seem to build 2 story, 3000 sq ft houses around here.
yeah I got a good deal on it. Every house I looked at like this was $100,000

I got this one for $62,000 because it was a foreclosure. I will do all my own work so I figured around $10 - $15 grand in it would bring it back to life.

I will be sure to take alot of before and after pics.

i NEED to leave CA... thats a 150-200k house here.
yeah you do.

Brand new 1500 sq ft homes go around $120 here.

This one has a two car garage with a car port and a full basement. 2100 sqft home not counting the garage.
Geez, look at that sink... that thing is huge! It's like a jacuzzi for babies
1500 sq ft? fuck that's cheap! In the San Fernado Valley "the valley" that would eazily sell for 500-600K

*edit 2100sq ft! Just over a million. http://www.trulia.com/CA/Woodland_Hills/

How's the housing market over there? Why the fook am I looking to buy expensive homes here when I should be buying there!
holy shit 60000 isn't even enough for a down payment in NY! Congrats..now get to pruning
pruning? I am planning on hooking up a log chain to the truck and ripping it out of the ground.

As much as I hate the south, the cost of living is dirt cheap here.
make sure to set up the extra bedroom nice and kute for me
didn't you see it? It's already set up for you.
Congrats man!

I like that hardwood and fireplace too.

what he said.

a friend of mine just moved back south from oregon, and he told me that my house would fetch 400k there (it appraised for 133k back on november).
Man, I hear you on the jungle yard thing. I moved into my house a year ago and the backyard had NO grass. Just a (well-maintained) jungle. There was a pond, a fountain, two trellis's, four planter boxes (HUGE), loads of flagstone, BIG rocks used for edging, chickenwire on the side of the deck for the huge vine thingies growing, loads and loads of plants, flowers and bushes. It was beautiful if you're a gardener. I'm not a gardener. :thumbdown

Sooo, I've been pulling things out bit by bit. Today, I was lucky enough to have the assistance of a fellow R6MN member who came over and pulled out huge rocks for over three hours. He ran out of room to pile them so just starting heaving them over my fence. :lol

I wish I had some "before" pics, I AM taking "during" pics, and will certainly take "after" pics.

Looks like you found a nice gem there, Trav. :thumbup Make sure you post up some pics after you're done with your work. :D

Damn there's even weeds growing on the roof! Good luck with that Trav, I can't even handle my backyard, dude. :)

Holy balls of shit!!! 62k? the cheapest house in my neck of the woods goes for ~300k. Can I move in with you? **Does His Best Herlihy Boy Impression**
Congrats on the house man! I think it shows some real potential, if you have the time to do the work.
I really don't have time to do the work. I have sat and sunday. Nothing else. I have been working so much that I have not used any of my vacation though. I might take all 4 weeks at once to work on this house.

There are plants growing in the gutters. wow.

I did find a rose bush in all the mess though. I might keep that

Sure. It is a 4 bedroom and I am single. Rent would definately be cheap and it beats the hell out of canada weather.
