I was curious as to what insurance companies people are going through here on the board.

With my r6 in the past I used State Farm and I am shopping around again for coverage on an r1 with geico and progressive online and holy crap, what they want is in the thousands per year. I think I was paying something like 35 bucks a month for the 6! I understand the engine size is bigger, but good lawd. :furious

glad you made this thread. it'll cut down on all the unnecessary "what insurance do you have?" threads.
I use State Farm for the 06 R6. Not sure how it happened, but I actually pay less for the 06 than I pay for the 03 R6. The good thing about State Farm is that they only care about the cc's of the bike and not if it's a "sport bike". Heavy, not sure that would be such a plus for you though.
gmac

they use the same "cc" formula and tend to rate you based on your driving record and not for all the squids that wreck brand new bikes.

For a 2004 R1 (Decent Coverage plan and not just the mim.)
24 yr old male
1 speeding ticket, no accidents in 3 yrs = $99 month

Same profile but on the 2004 R6 is $66 month.
19, 2006 r6s, full coverage....40.14 a month!
get the McGraw Group
cheapest liability only you will find out there. I just got them last week
don't forget that

1) age
2) location
3) your coverage amounts

will all effect your premiumns. so compare apples to apples
A.I.G.:
Full coverage, 26 year old male, speeding tickets only in my car, no accidents ever, 2005 R6, full coverage with a deducible of $150.00 across the board for $300.00 even a year! That's right a year. It acually went down 15.00 from last year when I was 25 because I had no accidents.
I think they go by cc size, accidents not speeding tickets and they give you crazy discounts for saying you wear all the gear and store it at night in a garage.
I checked a couple other places when I was in the buying the bike process and it ranged from $2500.00 a year down and a $500.00 deductable to what I have now. One thing to keep in mind, a lot of places simply do not want to insure bikes. That's why you hear the $2500.00 a year prices. They really don't want you, most of the time it has nothing to do with you or the bike.

21, full coverage, no tickets, $900/yr. Commerce Insurance.

Geico, Progressive, State Farm, etc.. are not available for massachusetts drivers, because of state laws and such.
thanks guys, some solid advice. i cant believe how much the cost jumps when you go to a liter bike.

Wow, that's good. Which insurance company? Any tickets within the last 3 years? I'm also 19 and own a 06 R6s.

doubt it, I pay $80 a year with progessive. but I didnt need any medical coverage. I have health insurance that has no limit on coverage.
