installing alpinestars back protector

I've had the S/MX airflow jacket for a while now, but just got the standard back protector for it. My question is, is it supposed to go in the pouch where the foam pad is, or is it supposed to go in that zippered part that says "install protection here?"

It seemed pretty self-explanatory, but when I put it in the zippered part, it moves all around.....

Am I missing something here?
