I have the valentine 1, i havent used it on the bike yet, but it works great in the car. Saves me almost every time I go on a long trip. It costs a little over 400 though.
save a little bit longer and get the valentine1.
The valentine one is an awesome piece of equipment. I have it also and I highly recommend it. Lots of features.
is there a specific model or just do a search for valentine one? Thanks bros

do a google search and look up radar roy site, the new bel is said to be the best radar dect on the market.

I have a passport 8500, but not the X50. Considering that passport said that it would be able to upgrade, and now it is not. I will be buying the bell or the valentine 1.

You can get a brand new Valentine one for around $360 direct from them. Call and ask about there returned units and get 10% off. Will be the most uptodate version with the same warranty as the one for $400.

The only others that are worth mentioning are the escort 8500 x50 and bel rx65.

ps. I see your in Canada. Check to be sure radar detectors are allowed in your part as I know there are a lot of places that it is illegal.

yes its illegal in ontario. however, i was thinking about hiding it somewhere, i drive a jetta. i only wanna get one if i can trust it. Which is why after everyones help here, i am leaning towards the valentine.

I did watch unique whips last week and saw they put one in this dudes porsche, had it concealed and alerted via leds built into the dash. that would be cool. Just as long as the cops cant find it
Check out the Beltronics STI...it's the only one, at this point, that's invisible to radar detector-detectors. My cousin has one in his cage, and it works wonders.

As stated, though, check out Radar Roy. He reccomends this model specifically for Canada. It's expensive, though. You'll probably be looking at $500 - $600, but it's worth it.
I'd check out these Valentine one, Escort Passport X50 (which I own and use on my 6), and the Bel RX65.

not true, valentine1 has always been invisible.
almost all radar detectors are invisible to radar detector detectors.....I don't even think cops use radar detector detectors anymore....
this is what i run on my bike, its the Whistler cruisader, its 299 and its specifically for bikes. i don't know if you are only gonna be usin this on your bike, or your car, but it has saved me numerous times and i've only had it for about a month. it hides away nicely and you can mount it pretty much anywhere. here's the link

not true, check out Radar Roy, he used technology that found both the Valentine 1 and the Escort 8500 X50, the only one that was undetectable was the Beltronics STi

i'm not going to get into a pissing contest over this but go check out speed measurement labs 2005 radar tests. tests in which "radar roy" was invited to attend and tests i give considerably more credit to in regards to their evaluations. the valentine1 (among many others) was undetectable to both vg2 and vg4 detection.

the new spectre detection unit which isn't even in wide use was the only one able to detect the radar detectors...but it detected ALL of the units tested and the valentine1 still showed the best resistance to detectability with (by far) the shortest range in the group. a modified v1 was even able to escape the spectre.
Well, keeping in the "let's not get in a pissing match" frame of mind, the same Speed Measurements Labs tested the STi after the test which you are referencing, for it was not included in the first group. In fact, the link is included on the 2005 test page.

First, the link to your study

Next, the link (found at the bottom of the menu in the first page) to the STi test

And I quote:

Results: The Beltronics STi Driver was completely invisible to all RDDs down to point blank range with the noses of the test vehicle and the test van touching. It’s the black hole of signal leakage. The only way to detect the Driver is to see it! The other two tested detectors were easily detected by both the Spectre II and the Spectre III.
Conclusion: The field testing confirms the advertising claims of the Beltronics STi Driver.
The Driver is the only radar detector completely invisible to all radar detector detectors with blistering sensitivity to all radar bands.
The two other detectors were the Valentine One and the Whistler 1788.

The STi actually picked up the RF leakage from the Spectre when nose to nose, while the Spectre was oblivious to the STi.

i understand where you're coming from but my comment was directed at your original statement?

so is the sti the only one invisible to radar detector detectors? no, it's the only one invisible to the new spectre (which isn't being used with much frequency yet). as pointed out, the v1 (along with others) have always been invisible to typical methods of detector detection, and i'm sure that will soon include the new spectre as it becomes used more frequently.
^ I guess you've got me with semantics, but still...

Article from April, 2004

And about 2/3 of the way down, under the heading All About Radar Detectors:

There's a new radar detector detector from Australia, the SMS Spectre II RDD. The Spectre is in use at least in Ontario, Canada, and in Texas. If you're detected by the Ontario police in Canada, you are subject to confiscation and a $1000 fine.
And this was from 2004. I'd think they, just maybe, might have upgraded to the latest Spectre III. Considering the original question came from a person in Ontario (which happens to be where I'm from), I would think my comment stands as true. The Beltronics STi is the only detector which is invisable to RDD's. I'm sure, once the Spectre system becomes more widespread in the States, you'll see all the manufacturers making systems to beat it, but at this point, the STi is the only one.
