Held Glove users

Just got myself a pair of Held Krypton gloves (looked at the Galaxy, but went with the Krypton) and will test them out on the 5th.

I've worn just about every glove of every major manufacturer except Held. Since I got this pair for $130, I figured what the hell. I'll give them a shot.

All I know is, the hype about Held gloves better be worth it. I'm stacking them up against, what I consider the best glove on the market, the Spidi Penta, so we shall see. I will post up a review next week after I use them at Willow Springs on Monday.

jesus, i just saw the sale at new enough. damn that is a steal
I really hope you get a chance to practice your Superman routine in each, and get back to us....hahahha. I really wish some of these manufacturers would get with the program and start getting their gloves CE- certified. They are easily the most ambiguous piece of protective gear out there. I've heard that one company is planning to submit a new model for testing in 2008. That bit of info leads me to beleive that there are few current pieces that could pass the simple performance tests today.

Either way, good choice on the Krypton over the Galaxy, the Suprotect foam is certianly a better choice than the hard carbon bits over the knuckles. The exposed stitching on the Held's is the only part that is suspect from what I've seen.
^^^ Well, already tested the Spdi Pent gloves ot and hey held up extremely well, considering I had my palms on the tamac the entire way down the turn. Ate a hole through the first layer of leather of my ass, but the gloves barley looked touched. Makes you wonder what kind of crazy cowhide Spidi gloves are made out of!
I'm looking forward to seeing how the Held Kangaroo palms feel by comparison, cause the Spidi palms are pretty supple.
I'll let you know next week. :thumbup

Yeah, I've had my eye on the Pentas for a while. They definitely look like one of the better choices out there.

A lot of companies are using roo hide and deer skin in the palms lately, and goat hide for a few as well, and then there's the Pittards Armor Tan and WR stuff that quite a few are using as well, which is all supposed to be better than regular cowhide in terms of abrasion and tear resistance. I think where most of the issues with gloves come up though is either in the stitching techniques, and/or the thickness of the leather wearing right through from just normal use, whether it's a fancy hide material or not. Uhhhhh....I hate putting thought into them, I'm never happy about it when I do.

As of late I've realized that there seems to be more issues with longevity in gloves of quite a few brands, and protective qualities of others. Seems like a big crap shoot when you really get into the crash anecdotes and specifications of most options.
