going to 120/70 front

do i need to raise the front 12mm to compensate? some say the front only raises 6mm, but as far as i understand the 10% difference rasises the side wall 12mm and not just the whole diameter of the tire. I hear the 120/70 is a better tire for cornering.
how much did you raise the front? I have an02 r6

I would start with 6mm and go from there. I think 12mm you might run into some clearance problems. That and it will be very twitchy.
Dude, you gotta lower the front of the bike about 1cm if you want the same quickness of turn-in as you had before with the 60 profile. Otherwise the bike will turn slightly slower. So the fork tubes come up through the triple clamp. 70 series have a little more sidewall for grip when you are leaned over.
EDITED: I raised the forks 10mm on my 01... made a noticable difference with the 70 series.
^ hopefully you RAISED the forks.

i raised my forks 6mm when i adjusted for the 70 front.

where are you pulling this out of about turn in speed? i switched to a 70 series on my 04 and haven't done shit to the suspension and forks, and works like a champ, no clearence and it kicks ass on the track for turn in speed

Same here, didn't do anything. No ill effects noticed
the correct way to measure (this works best with both tires being new.)is to take a piece of string tape it to the tire. now run it around the tire until you come back to the beginning of the string and mark it with a marker.
now do the same with the new tire. now measure the difference of the two marks. that difference is what you want to compensate for by moving the forks up in the tripple. this puts the bike back to its intended geometry.
I read this someplace but cant remember where.

I agree. I made the switch to a 70 on my 2000 R6 and noticed only a slightly slower turn-in speed. It was never a problem on the track so you shouldn't worry about it. :thumbup
i prefer the way it handles after switching to the 70, IMO on stock suspension setttings you loose a bit of feel so i upped the compression to compensate
stock (for a 60) is flush with the yokes or flush with the clipons. i think this is a dumb question, but i only had the bike a month and this is the first I've heard of this.

never mind....as i thought, im we ta did.
I left my setting the same, the bike handled a little weird at the beginning since i was used to other tire size, but now that I got the tire broke in and got used to it, I love it turning is great, and the ride is great
