^^^ Yeah, it's called buying a full aftermarket system.

Should be too difficult to do what you are saying. If someone knows how to cut metal and TiG weld in a straight piece to fill in the gap from the cut out catalytic converter, you're golden. :thumbup

yea his girls father haha and hes got some hands on as well so i guess hell be ok.
It is unfortunately not that easy. The new R6 uses a 4 into 2 header with a crossover between the "2" then it goes straight into the cat. It still doesnt seem super difficult but it would take someone making the 2 into 1 piece and then fitting it to the "2" on the end of the headers.
The other thing i would think about is the sound. The cat is probobly doing a bit of sound suppression as the bike sounds almost exactly the same with the can on or off (i tried it) There is also the issue of backpressure-there is damn near nothing in the factory can (dont have the experience to know for sure if sportbikes need enough backpressure for that to matter though) If he does it let us know how it turns out

no prob ill keep you posted.
Id say unless he plans on riding his bike like a 2-stroke, that shit is gonna suck. You think the new R6 doesnt have any bottom end now? when you take away that exup valve you loose a shitload off the bottom end. but I bet it will sound a whole lot better though:)

if hes looking for a good decent increase in power, remove the baffle that is in the air box that filters out big dibris and put in a bmc airfilter....that will give it a good bit.
How about on a 06 R1?

Met this guy today with the same bike, he had a Two Brothers exhaust, he claimed he took out the catalytic converter with a screw driver and ALOT of elbow grease took him several hours or so he said. I really liked the way it sounded that really deep grumble but not obnoxious like a D&D....Or is there another alternative like possibly getting a mid pipe without the catalytic converter in it??? Not quite sure if I'm actually wording this right....I'm just "DEEE DEEEEEE"
I have cut out the 3 cats inside the pipe. It take about 3 hours, but you will gain 4hp. Our race track has a 88db limit ,so no aftermarket pipes aloud.

ill take that into consideration. but like what was mentioned above, do you feel any loss in high end?

what about a mid pipe with the stock muffler? so you keep that valve but lose the cat?
yea thats what hes tryin to fab.
Is a few hp really worth the nasty gases that it removes?

I really amazes my how people love to fuck up the environment they live in. Everybody uses the same excuse to, "its just one little _________" insert cigarette butt, catalytic converter ect. Well if 3000 people say "it's just one" its not just one, its fucking 3000!!!!

Sorry for the rant.

theres no saving this world. it will be destroyed before the effects of 3000 uncatalyzed bikes effect it. do not reply. this is an exhaust thread

One of my buddies keeps telling me to do this. I currently just have a micron slip on. If I remove the header, how hard is this to do? Just need a screw driver and hammer and remove anything i see inside the pipe? May be way better than buying a new aftermarket header.
i had my cat removed and welded a 2 to 1 mid pipe to my akra megaphone slip on. and it's freaking loud. i guess there's a loss in the backpressure and what will tis loss has effect on? i'm considering to fix back the stock end can, to keep the noise down and also to get back some backpressure. wat ya guys think?
who did the welding for u and how much did it run u?

umm.. i'm in singapore and it was done in our neighourin country, M'sia where ya can find cheap labour and material. i guess it costed than 20 USD for the whole mid pipe and welding. I got the header from ambasnakeman btw.
