I just bought a 99 R6 a few months ago. While I was riding this evening the gauge cluster would reset every time I activated the front or rear brake. Please help!

Sounds like a short when your brake lights come on. Check your fuses and the wiring to your brakes.

Can't help much more than that w/o more info.

Good luck.

Thanks Bobby.

I'm thinking it is a battery problem. It seems to only happen when the battery voltage is low. I charged the battery tonight and the problem was gone.

Glad you found the problem. The battery doesn't charge below 4k rpm when you're riding so if there's a problem with your battery not holding a charge, you might need a new one.

my guess

Start pricing rectifiers-common problem on 99-02 R6's-also check the wiring from the stator to the rectifier for melting, corosion look at at the plug from the stator to the rectifier closely should be no build up or burns.I been there good luck.:thumbup
