East-End Commuting Question

693 Views 12 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  iv:xx
Hey Gang, needed some help from anyone who lives out by the east end, Leslie and Lawrence more specifically.

My work is moving to the Leslie and Lawrence area by this summer. This sucks cause I live in Brampton and my commute just doubled (if not more). I would like to know what you think would be the best route for me to take to work?

407 east and go south on Leslie?

401 east and go south on Leslie?

I am open to any other options. I am not too familiar with the area and what roads turn into parking lots during rush hour, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Going south is going to put you into 3 major rough spots
1.410 south
2. Airport/427/400
3. Allen/Avenue/Yonge

427/409 replaces 1 & 2 so it is a bit better depending on how far to the 427.

ETA on 401 is 30-40 mins @ 7:00 AM
Not 100% on the 407 ETA but the drive down Leslie will eat a lot of the advantage.

Leave yourself free to take either one depending on the traffic report and take the 409 over the 410.
Guess it really depends on when your travelling. You f'd when it snows, there is an accident or construction on the 401
travelling the normal rush hour times.
it's pretty random...just so you know being late a minute can cost you 5, which turns into 10 min later and so on. Some days it's ok on the 401...other days it's a parking lot which everyone is going at 11 km/h.

The earlier you leave the better....

if all else fails take the 407.

Leslie and lawrence is ok...not too congested...or busy...just Ok. mind you this is in the summer time (when i'd ride that route) I don't know how it is in the winter.

I would take the 401 or and just go down leslie to Lawrence.

The 401 to dvp -lawrence exit is murder. You'll be sitting there for a while.
You are soo lucky! Better buy yourself a smart car to save on gas.
If you decide to take 407, one thing to remember is that the Leslie you're talking about ends (or begins depending on how you look at it) at steeles. The Leslie where you have an exit off from the 407 actually becomes Don Mills Rd. as soon as you pass Steeles (when coming southbound). It's messed up.
Or a streetbike.

You call Leslie/Lawrence EAST end? hahaaha I had to laugh, but coming from Brampton, that is pretty far east.

Also, which part of Brampton are you in? If you're North Brampton, it might be easier (and cheaper) to take and of these roads and head east: Mayfield/King Road/Stouffville Road til you hit Keele/Leslie/Jane and go south til you get where u want to go. But either way you look at it, it sucks to commute from where you are.

Good luck
Take the train? :shrug
I would take the train if that is all i had to take, but i will probably need to get on a bus at some point, and i refuse to ride the bus ever since I got my license 14 years ago.
^ I know how you feel... :p
