Put my dual star grip warmers on a couple days ago and let me say I wish that was the first thing I put on my bike. I quit riding when it gets below 20 degrees and the only thing that ever got cold were my damn hands. Not anymore with these mothers :thumbup . The day I tried them out all I had were my leather gloves nothing on underneath and it was about 30 degrees.....my hands were nice and toasty. If anybody rides when its cold this would be a great investment. But get the dual star ones not any of the other cheaper names....these are the best.
Heated grips are the shit. I installed a set similar to those on my street bike. It's funny, in a cold rain I'll pull up to a red light and my gloves are steaming.
The only down side in really cold weather, is that you don't want to take your fingers off of the grips to use the clutch or brake.
Been using them for 3 years, no problems yet. The throttle side actually gets a little too hot, 'cause the grip is thinner. The ones I used were made to use on a snowmobile (thumb throttle). Maybe the ones linked to in this thread take that into account.
Ya thats why the dual stars are the best under the grip heating element. For one the left side gets warmer to account for the heat sink effect (metal takes longer to heat than plastic), and the resistor is internal as apposed to external. Ya I noticed when it gets in the low twenties that I don't wanna take my hands off the grips. I guess I will just have to get used to it.
i just ordered a set two minutes ago. i hope they work! i've been wearing my thick ass snowboarding gloves in stead of my leather riding gloves and they are horribly thick. they seriously affect my movement and i hate it but its much warmer than leather gloves
If it's real cold (below 35 deg.) my finger tips feel it a little. The backs of my hands not at all, but I wear Helds and they have a good bit of padding on the back.
I don't do as much cold weather riding as I used to, but the grips are still nice for those fall nights when you get cought in the rain, or it gets colder than you expected when the sun goes down.
You cheap ass :spit they can sell these all day for $29.95 or even $39.95 I dought they would be down with selling them any cheaper hehehe. If you don't have the extra change in your pocket we can go to the casino tonight :thumbup ....umm maybe thats a bad idea
Ohh ya don't know if I mentioned but I used the power wire from the tailight. The 18guage wire they give you wasn't long enough to reach the point where I had cut and spliced my tailight wire so I just found one that was. It says you can use the wire from the headlights or tailight......headlights seemed a little to iffy for me so I went for the tailight in which I already had cut so I went that route. Just thought it might help some of you...I also put the switch on the left side black plastic frame cover doohickey.
