Clutching first gear

I have been dabbling some with clutching the bike up really high in first almost at a dead stop, but is there a better speed where engine braking might save my ass since I don't have any rear brake skills yet?

2nd or 3rd , heres one in 3rd.

however i was up 2 in back and down 2 in front, and quit messing with first gear until you learn the back brake really good

first gear is WAYYYY to scketchy to be clutchin up. i started doin first then moved to 2nd gear clutch ups, the bike just feels outa control and unpredictable in first.
I am just trying to learn something slower. I almost killed myself the other day bringing a squidstyle powerwheelie up at 20mph and riding it to the rev limiter(90mph) in second. The rev limiter slammed the front down hard enough to put the bike into a medium case of headshake.

First gear just seems like it would have enough engine brake at a slow enough speed to save the loop from happening if I went past bp.

i once thought the same thing , but after a broke femur , no more 1st for me. looped it , it was a gixxer anyway no big loss.
I learned slow stuff in first...you will crash learning the back brake for slow stuff so just be prepared.

I clutch first regularly, I can't balance it until I'm almost redlining though, like 45ish.

Lemme stop bullshitin and go take some pictures of my bike so I can post them.

Ah you scored a gixxer I see....

Did it come with free riding sandals? j/k

When you say you don't get balance point until 45, what causes that?
I can't get it high enough w/o pussing out, I mean, I've come back behind the balance point before, but it's much more unstable at slower speeds and your body position effects the bike A LOT more. I was beginning to learn the rear brake on my 03 R6 last year, so I'll have to pick-up where I left off on this thing soon.
Can anybody describe the way the bike feels when you need to be using the rear brake?

When you hear your tail scraping :lol There really is no good way to explain how it feels.

Probably tweak my pipe before that and toss the bike.

I am totally considering putting my welding skills to use and building a cage and a 12 bar. Anybody have close up pics of their cages/12 bars so I can copy the design?
