What is a good price for a front Dunlop for my 2005 R6? I was told on the phone locally they wanted around $130 for a front tire, does this sound about right?

do yourself a favor, get some pilot powers. dont ever look back.
yea get rid of the shitty stock tires. i finally made the switch to PP and I won't go back to those shitty dunlops
where are you located? I have my original Dunlop with tons of life left, but I gotta ask WHY you would want to keep the stock Dunlops
Get some PP theres a group buy going on right now. http://www.r6messagenet.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86741

Tire express is $22.99 shipping on top of the set.

i think i have a front OEM tire probably has 1,500 miles on it
i have a front OEM dunlop with 600 miles on it. i got a flat on the rear tire so changed to PP. let me know homes- the tire is sitting in the garage.
holy dunlop-bashing. i've burned through a few sets of dunlop 208's and loved 'em. never had a problem putting my knee down, and they let me know what they liked and didn't like. they're a damn good tire for the street. why all the hate?
I to have a 2005 R6 and put Dunlop Qualifiers on. For me and my opinion the bike feels more planted in turns and turns in easier. For me they inspire alot more confidence in the twistys. The stock tires just made me uncomfortable. best change I made to the bike yet. If I remember right the total cost for me buying locally was 311.00. the front was 109 back was 139 and 50 for mount and balance. Money well spent IMO:hyper
Go with the michelin or pirrelli diablo corsa , Thats my :2cents

No shit right!

I love em.

One name in road racing stands out above all others: Dunlop. Examine the history of AMA racing, and you’ll find Dunlop owns the overwhelming majority of championships, more than all other tire manufacturers combined in the modern era. Since the inception of the AMA’s 600 Supersport and 750 Superstock classes, Dunlop racers have won a mind-boggling 33 out of a possible 34 championships. In the ultra-competitive AMA Superbike class, Dunlop has won 19 titles, including the last 15 in a row. And as of the close of the 2004 season, Dunlop earned 7 of 8 Formula Extreme championships plus 22 Championships in a row in AMA 250 Grand Prix racing. For championship-caliber racing performance, no one comes close to Dunlop.

Yea so Dunlop knows NOTHING about motorcycle tires so yea" get rid of the shitty stock tires".

Think about it, of course you bikes feels awsome when you jump on the bandwagon and put on Pilot powers, your last reference was a worn out tire. You would most likely love the feel of a new Dunlop qualifier too. No need to bash a great tire maker.

I'm am in no way saying Michelin tires are junk cause they are far from it. I just get sick of all the Dunlop bashing from most people. How often do your hear respectable board members that race, pro riders ect bash something like a tire maker? You wont, they just choose to use what they like best or get sponsership from.

fact: stock dunlops lost traction in middle of turn

fact: metzler m3's don't.

it's relatively simple.. some people would rather choose a much stickier tire. maybe it's your riding style that allows assists in your dunlopiness.
Id be willing to bet what you felt was just feedback or if you did loose traction it was reacting to something you did.

.....or reacting to some substance in the middle of that turn.

Very possable.

Tire feedback can be VERY disconcerting if you're not used to it, since to the novice rider it will feel like the bike isn't as planted. Well it is...and the more you get your ass off the seat and weight the pegs, the more you'll be able to take advantage of this feedback. Some tires have a LOT of warning before they slide. You will feel them flex, step out, and finally slide in a really linear and predictable manner.
diablo super corsa front

The super corsa is a DOT race tire, their are no advantages when running one the street only disadvantages. The Diablo corsa is a great street tire just poor life its more better for trackdays.
Which OEM tire? In 05' some had D208, and some had D218. They are decnt tires, with pretty good life.
