Its pretty much like this in every state. But they have radios. And its much harder to outrun a radio then the cop himself.
so your saying they may not be able to chase you but they can call ahead and have someone else stop you...I want to find more specific details on it Im just curious..
if the cops don't get you the camera's will...big brother is watching you :lol
Cops will break rules. In the end, the judge will listen to a group of cops over a lawyer and "convict" :lol

I mean seriously, are you gonna say "but I ran, and he chased me! It's against the law for him to chase me!" :lol
Its a personal thought. If someone dies getting chased then it wouldn't be so funny. by no means am I saying break the law.I'm just trying to get info on this so called "law"
^^ I hear ya...I was just bein a smartass as usual....but it's good for us, rather, those that run....if this is the case...
Im a Trooper in NJ and we have a general "rule of thumb" when it comes to pursuits; and that is don't get in them. Especially when you're chasing a bike. The reason being, is it's not worth all the risk of personal injury to the public and property damage, and most of all public and interdepartmental scrutiny. Now of course we do chase if its for a criminal offense i.e carjacking, murder, kidnapping ect....and depending who you talk to... many will argue that Felony Eluding is a criminal offense (which it is, but its kinda like which came first the chicken or the egg). Luckily and there are other ways to identify and arrest the individual who is running from us. I personally have been involved in several pursuits....and we eventually arrested all of the individuals who ran using normal investigatory means. Unfortunately, one of them wrecked and died from the accident.... Most people who run are wanted for other reasons and I rarely encounter people who run because they were speeding and don't want to get a ticket. That holds true for bikes too.

there is no "no chase law". there are policies in place pertaining to how different agencies respond to evading situations but i wouldn't count on that to keep local agencies from chasing a runner.
In LA everytime i turn the tv on there is a high speed chase
Pantera40z, in any of the chases you've been in, was there a plane or helicoptor called in?
in Virginia we conduct pursuits untill it is deemed "unsafe" to continue further by the SDO ( staff duty officer ). If there isn't much traffic we'll conduct a pursuit, call in the stop sticks and everything else ( and yes this includes air support from VSP ) For motorcycles most of us around where i work don't bother with them at all, including even attempting a traffic stop. But it comes down to the particular officer. I'm unaware of any state that has an actualy "No pursuit law", however I do know that a lot of departments have a "No persuit policy" which lists reasons to not conduct a pursuit.
Unsafe speed is a frame of mind to me. It does not feel fast doing 120 on a bike as much as it does in a car....

I am not trying to get scraped off the pavement but try to pick back roads to speed when I do. I did go 152 in my car tonight on the freeway with nobody near me and no exits around..

I paid 34k in taxes this year....That part of the highway is now mine in my head.

Good to hear the officers chime in with smart thoughts.....Glad to see that you are thinking and appreciating your life. No reason to put your life in danger for something so small as speeding. Hell, its only speeding!

Well it's only speeding untill they run from you, then it's felony evading :thumbup but that still isn't worth the risk to me personally. Generally I would just fucking wave to a bike when it flew by me, lol Fuck him, let his ass fly into a tree and get picked up by EMS / Fire my ass is going home!
A couple of sheriffs in rural counties have told me that even though they have a "no pursuit" policy, they'll occasionally pursue a bike until it wrecks and then claim to have later "rolled up" on the accident, meaning they just wait 10 minutes before they call it in!

Wanna avoid this fate? Don't be a pussy and run. Take your lumps like a man.

Thats why....they televise all of them.
As far as helicopters....the answer is no. The time frame of my longest pursuit was no more than 25 minutes from start to finish.. and it takes longer to get the chopper in the air than that.

i had a motorcycle cop chase me today on my minibike, he chased me 2 miles down college road, then finally after i stopped he told me to turn it off i looked back at him and said i can’t and gassed it, he pulled over to the side of the road as i held her wide open i gassed her home and got inside. I had a helmet on with a tinted visor my face is safe but my bike is definitely on the watch list for sure. The new no chase rule definitely is great as long as you can get inside quick without a license plate. I had no choice but to run because i know for sure that cop would of impounded my bike and i just can’t take any chances like that.
