06 R6 wheels

Where can I get an extra set of wheels for the 06 R6? I'd rather buy a set of used rims but haven't seen them on Ebay recently. I fear it is too soon to find used wheels for this model. What are my options?

Are any other year R6 wheels compatible with the 06? If so, can you tell me which ones?

Basically I want to keep my race tires on one set and my street tires on another. Perhaps this isn't the best way to go about it - should I not buy new wheels but instead invest in a tire changer and just change them myself? I assume that would be a cheaper option.

Thoughts?

^ Hes right
That's great news. Thanks!

Do I need anything special to put them on the 06 - like different bearings, spacers, or axle? Or will it be a straight swap?
Straight swap. :thumbup I have 2005 wheels that are my spares for my 06. Everything fits fine.
Excellent, thanks for the help guys! :thumbup
I'm glad to hear the 05 wheels will fit the 06. I've now got 3 sets of wheels for my 02 R6 and have been looking on Ebay for a spare set for my 06 also. I had almost settled on buying a nomartirechnager unit and just swapping the street tires for the track tires as needed. The positive side of that decisions is that you can change tires for buddies and make $10 to $15 per change for guys who ring you the wheels. In no time, you'll pay for the tire changer and you'll own it and be in the gravy on all future tire changes.

me and my buddy are acutally going to do exactly that.. it'd be cool if we somehow made money :D
Did some research on this ... 03+ wheels will fit (front and rear). The rear is good to go as-is. For the front, if the rotors are 03/04, you'll need to upgrade to 05+ rotors & carriers. The 05/06 rotors are larger, otherwise it's the same wheel.
^ that's very interesting... b/c I found a set of 03's locally but wasn't sure if they'd fit.

So just rotor carriers and rotors from an 05/06 and I'm good to go??

'03 wheels fit however, the rotors on the front do not.

Also, the rubber in the cush drive, is firmer on the '06 vs. the 03-05, I just remove the cush drive spacers each time I swap a wheel. (the spacers are the little rubber doohickies under the sprocket carrier)
Now if I could just find some spare wheels for my 2005 GSXR1000! Anyone? :lol

Ok, I can do that no problem. What about the rotor carriers and rotors? Can I just unbolt the carriers from my 06 and leave the rotors connected to the carriers, then just bolt onto the 03 rims? Will they bolt straight on? Would that pose any other issues that you can think of?

I know they changed the material that the rotor carrier is made of but I'm pretty sure it is still the same size.
dang, you all have a WEALTH of knowledge (I gather it comes from experience) !!! I just purchased a spare set of '06 wheels front and back for my '05 and knowing they will fit makes the decision SOOOO much easier to swollow.

Thanks Lucentone for starting the thread and everyone else for the input!
np dude! :thumbup
