A week ago I bought an '05 R6 with about 1500 miles on it. How would I know if this part has been replaced ?

Per the recall instructions, a punch mark should have been made after the last digit on your VIN plate. Or you can call the dealer, and they can just see in the system whether the work was performed.

Can the dealer see in the system if the work was done at another dealer?

My local deal will do it under warranty, if I have never done this kind of work myself should I let them handle it, or do it myself? How can they mess it up anyway, if its not tightened properly?
