So I just changed the oil on my 2007 R6 and everything looked good till I started it up. White smoke came pouring out of my exaust. I let it run for 10 min and it was still smoking. Then I tried again today for another 10. Started out fine but then when it got to about 170 degrees, it started smoking again. I asked a few places around and they said white smoke was water or coolant but there is no way because all I did was drain the old, fill with new, and replaced the filter.

Also, smoke has a smell to it. Slightly burnt smell I guess. The engine sounds fine but at times it bogs down a little bit or sputters.

Maybe too much oil?

I don't think I blew anything because I haven't gotten to ride it after the oil change.

Hope someone can help me out! I have checked many threads about this and couldn't find an answer.

Help me out here with some details.

What brand and type oil did you use?
How much did you put in?
Did you replace the oil filter?
If you replaced the oil filter, did you oil the ring like you're supposed to?

Your exhaust was propbably covered in fresh oil. If you don't wipe it off, it will smoke for a lot longer than 20 minutes.

2008 R6- Arrow Ti exhaust, YEC engine kit, custom P&P by Barton Racing, Racetech valving, and a few other choice morsels!! Putting down 125.5rwhp and 50.2rwtq.
