Default Insurance out west..

Hi there.. I live in Toronto, but I'm thinking about moving out to Calgary this summer, just wondering what differences (if any) there are in insurance out there compared to here for the 6.. are alot of the people in this forum from calgary? or most from BC? I've never been out west, gonna come and check it out in Feb and if I like it (which i assume I will) I'm moving in the summer..

Well, I know it is cheaper than B.C. to insure your bike IF you have a good drivers record. Tickets will cause your insurance to be higher in Alberta. I am glad it is not that way in B.C., I would not be able to afford insurance ;) It is 1200 for 6 months for full coverage here, so expect it to be less then that.

I only pay $300 a year for PLPD coverage on my 6 but I am also 34. I am not sure how much it is for full coverage, I just never bothered to look since my 6 is a 99.

Damn that's cheap! Who are you with?

I am 37 and am at $1,050 per year (full coverage with $500 deductible) on my '03. Since the bike is still financed, I have to carry full coverage,

But even on my 2000 it was over $900.

This is with Primmum BTW.

My bike is with ING. I am getting a new bike this summer so I will insure it full coverage and let you guys know.

My main insurance company is with Moloche Monnex (TD Insurance) but they don't insure motorcycle. Moloche Monnex would of been even cheaper. I have all of my vehicles and houses insured with them so I get a great rates. Also because I am a university alumni and corporate discount, I get even more of a discount. To give you an example, I only paid $800 for full coverage for my BMW.

I recently got a quote from ING for $1 million PL/PD, fire & theft with $500 deductible for $525 for my '03 R6. Only PL/PD is $232 (it's theft coverage that bumps it up). I'm a single 27yr old male with my bike license for three years and that quote is without any special discounts. Not bad. I thought it would be a lot more for a SS 600cc bike.

Correction to my ealier post, I just talked to my insurance co. I added fire and theft with my pl/pd, now I am paying $265 per/yr (185 for pl/pd & 80 fire&theft). Man I can't wait until someone stole my bike
