Default Fighting Speeding tickets in Canada

Well in my search for information on how to fight a speeding ticket I came across a few websites that I thought I would share to make other peoples lives easier.

This first site is a step by step explaination on how to fight a speeding ticket.. its for the provience of ontario but the basics are there

http://www.magma.ca/~fyst/

The second site is for the basic search for all the acts and regulations that you might have broken. Search for Motor vehicles act and also public highways act. Those will help you to understand what you have done or what they claim that you have done.

ALso heres another how to defend yourself and its for the provience of B.C.

There are also Two books that you want to use in helping you prepare a defence and learning the law.

The first is
The law of Traffic Offences written by Scott Hutchison, David Rose, and Philip Downes.

The second book is a must for speeding tickets and is called

The Law on Speeding and Radar written by A. Shakoor Manraj, and Paul Douglas Haines

There is one other book that I found gave some good advice and alot of bad advice. It basically states that fighting a speeding ticket is not worth it but this book was also written in 1972

The title is Fight that Ticket in Ontario written by Allan E. Scott.

You can probably borrow these books from your local library or from the court house library.

Let me finish off by saying if you ever get a speeding ticket it is worth it to fight it. You could get off on a technicality, the officer might not show up to court, you could ask the officer to withdraw the charges before court, more then likely in most cases when you fight a ticket you will win and your insurance wont be affected. What do you have to lose really, in the worst case you will be found guilty and just pay the fine anyway.

If you do decide to fight the ticket always be well prepared. Hire a lawyer if you can afford one, but if not then make sure you show up knowing all that you can so that you are able to defend yourself.

I hope this helps some of you and if you have any questions just ask, i have gone through this process and have found out alot about the law and defending yourself.
