Default When's spring 2004?

Alright, so who's got the motorcycling version of the Farmer's Almanac? When will the Vancouver weather improve this year? I'm hoping you'll say early February will see no salt on the roads and warmish/dryish days. What an optimist.

vancouver weather??? It's always nice there. Try living in saskatchewan. We'll be lucky to pull them out near the end of march!

i usually get on the road ~april 1. you can sometimes get in a couple weeks ahead of that but it just seems to rain and rain and rain for feb/march. end of march/early april is when you start seeing some multiple clear days. i usually study the weather network and wait until i see it being mostly sunny days in a row.

the first year i had my r6 i rode it all winter. you can do it, but there's quite a bit of rain, and the problem isn't that, but that the tires just don't really heat up until about 20 mins into the ride. oh, and no car drivers (especially in richmond) seem to think that someone would actually be on a bike, so you get cut off a lot (unless you have a nice tinted visor, loud pipe, and look as intimidating as possible)

Default intimidator

Yeah, looking intimidating works surprisingly well. I even used to do it effectively on my bicycle. I usually try to get out riding in February and I was hoping someone would make me optimistic by saying that this spring will start early. I'm not a big fan of the wet road and low visibility combo. There's no way I can wait until April.
The Richmond thing is wierd. Don't a lot of those people come from places where the roads are full of bikes/scooters? Why are they so unaware of them?

i work in richmond and have to commute in from vancouver. its hell. i see an accident in richmond every day. most people in richmond are from hong kong, and have never driven in their lives before moving here. they move here and buy a big mercedes because they're so cheap here comparatively and then they just don't know how to drive because they didn't grow up around it. i got cut off so bad on my way to work today by some idiot lady; my coffee and everything blew up and sprayed all over the inside of the car from me braking so hard to avoid her when she blindly cut into my lane. last week i missed getting hit by a couple of inches by some 18 year old kid who went through a red light in a big american car at about 90km/h. and that light was red his way for about 10 seconds. you really have to watch it. and don't even get me started on those idiot young kids who gent sent over by their parents and have those riced out imports and can't drive them.

ha I find that so funny. I rode out to vancouver this summer on my bike and it was hell around Richmond and Surry. There is a lot of those stupid kids in there riced out cars that mommy or daddy bought for them causing trouble. I thought about moving out there but the traffic drives me nuts. I laugh when I get home and get stuck in traffic for 5 mins when it takes like and hour and a half to get from twassin to langley.

I don't know about Saskatoon but I and my R6 returned to the road today. Mind you, I got soaked in spite of the fact that all the weathercasters said nothing about precipitation for the day. There was plenty of rain all around the Second Narrows, from North Van west to downtown and east to Port Moody. Still it felt great to be back. The bike is running great.
