'12 Yamaha R6 ticking
I am aware of the "yamaha tick". I owned an 08 R1 and I never noticed any type of a ticking sound. I rode an 08 R6 that had be laid down and I could easily hear a ticking sound. Which, I'm not sure if it was the "Yamaha Tick" or a bent valve or something from it being laid down.
I saw an ad for a bike here locally, it's from a motorsport dealership (not a certified Yamaha one). Part of the ad says that the plastics are in immaculate condition and that "there is a ticking noise in the engine when it runs. The bike has about 6,000 miles. I have all the plastics off of the bike to inspect what was wrong with it and decided to just not deal with it and sell it for cheap."
They are asking $5,000. I'm tempted to buy it, but I'm not that familiar with Yamaha R6's. So I have a few questions:
From there ad, does it sound like it could be the "Yamaha Tick"?
Is there anything else that it could be besides the Yamaha Tick?
Is there anyway to tell if it IS the Yamaha Tick or do you just have to have a trained ear?
The bike is white, with the black, white, and red side fairings. I've never seen that color scheme in person, up close. Is there anyway to tell if the fairings are OEM or cheap ebay ones?
