Please help bike won't start/ turn over

Hi guys
Just picked up a 2002 r6 it won't start on the button just a clicking under the seat. Has a new battery but the starter motor does not engage. If I rock the bike back and forwards in gear it will then start, could it be the starter motor

Even though the battery is new it may need a charge. My bike was making the same clicking noise under the seat as well when I couldn't get it to start. I gave it a boost and started up no prob and haven't had any problems since.

Check the tip sensor. But sounds like a bad starter or dead cells in the battery. Try jumping it at the solenoid. PM me if you need more info.

it could be a bad starter, or going bad, but also the noise sounds like a dry start which is caused by a bad battery, and although you charged it it may have dead cells and not holding a charge...

I have the same problem. was it the starter?
My battery is good and most of the time it will start the bike.
It has happen twice(early morning when i need to be somewhere), when i try start the bike. It it's like the starter motor jams up. press the start button and it just makes a noise but doesn't turn.
If i put it in gear and push it back and forth it drags the rear wheel, it doesn't roll. So i push it back and forth in desperation and tried again both times it worked after this...(eventually)
Any ideas?

The Reg/Rec may have given up the ghost.
