Default New R6 Owner (2005 Raven)

Hey guys,

I'm Dan from Cali, and just wanted to drop by and say hi. Been riding my R6 for over a month so far and it's been absolutely exhilarating.

I do have a few questions about paint... bought the bike with some deep scratches on the front and mid fairing. Looked around and color-brite rattle cans were recommended by a few people.

Are the color codes for the Raven black metallic X for the front, lower, and rear fairings, and Matt Black for the mid? Also, anyone know if I clear coat the matt black paint?

Thanks guys

welcome man
metalic x is for all the glossy parts such as the tank upper, lowers and tail
and the matte is for the mids

there is no clear coat on any of the matte parts

make sure you do all the porper prep work if your going to be repainting it

you may also just look into buying new plastics depending on your budget since we can get fairly reasonable prices as opposed to the dealership

check out flatoutmotorcycles.com and mrcycles.com and you can use their parts finder to find the best price

i love my 05r6 and i hope you will love yours too

I just want to know how bad is the Scracth on it?? is it a from rock hitting it or from falling scratches??? if its from rock hit... just use a marker.. I know your first bike ever i have the same o5 r6.. it's an awsome bike .. i take mine to the track when ever i get the chance.. i live in cali too Ventura county... if you live close by hit me up we'll go for a ride... i said what i said about the maker thing because.. i did that too.. i tried too make it clean as possible... but still rock still hits it.. then i just figure it can't be help... as long as i ride my bike i will keep getting scrath so i just decided when its really badly scrached then i'll re paint it my self to a different color... but if your the type of guy who just want your bike looking clean a just cruise.. then get those paint and paint it good... prep it really good... or else it wont match..... paper sand it bando then wet sand it then paint good luck...

Scratch is from a low speed drop... It's not terrible, only up close. There's just quite a bit of it on the front, mid and lower farings. Thanks for the advice, Ill def give the marker a try. I'm up in San Jose, Ventura is a hella nice place to live.
