Hello, new to site

Hi all, i'm new to the site, it looks cool, i just bought a 2000 r6, here in ireland,
the bike is clean, 13,000 miles, it seemed fine when it started and gave it a small drive only in 1st and 2nd gear at low rpm's, but when i took it home and brought it for a proper drive, when i got up past 5000 revs it starts to cough and spit and loose power,(really pi**ed!!!!!) i'm going to chane oil, filter and plugs over the weekend, any ideas???
