Default Good & Fun Twistys in VA?

Me and some buddies were looking at taking off for the weekend. Local and in VA, as we live right smack dab in the middle of the state.

Any suggestions as to what we should hit up? We will all be on sport bikes, don't want to trailor the bikes anywere. We have a few good roads in VA that we ride all the time - but we are looking for some more action. We have a group of about 5 to 7 depending on who can go. Damn girlfriends!

If you don't want to trailer and your back and butt can handle it, the Blue Ridge Parkway is nice. Or Skyline Drive to the north, though I haven't personally ridden on that part.

parkway and skyline are nice, but weekend traffic is a battle. parkway 45 mph, skyline 35 and can be heavily patrolled. also costs 3 bucks (i think) for entry. very nice leisurely ride tho.

rt 60, rt 33, rt 8 are all good. 8 is more southwest. 60 is north of lynchburg, and 33 is decent. where in va are you? i

I'm in Manassas but I always meet up with my buddies down in Stafford to ride, usually at the WaWa (610 I believe) right off of 95. Hit me up sometime.

Hey Naked6 where are you. I am in Callands, (outside of Martinsville). We ride up at Hwy 8 some. It is no Deal's Gap but it will do. It is a nice little ride up Hwy 40 to get there too! VIR is the best

cool. how's 40? never been on it. I live in Radford and shoot down 8, then 58 east to martinsville to go down to raleigh pretty regularly. rt 8 is fun. i ate it on there a few years ago, got too hot in a corner and ran out of real estate.

Hey sorry for the thread jack!
I guess we are coming to hwy 8 from opposite directions.
40 is a big long stretch from Gretna to Stuart. It ends right there at the bottom of hwy 8 where the old furniture store and the beauty shop are. It is pretty straight until you get to Rocky Mount then it turns into twisty country roads for about 30 miles that are pretty good. We are on Hwy 57, which is good smooth rolling curves if you like them, right outside of Martinsville.

continuing threadjack: i'll have to check out 57 sometime. does 40 go through farrum? If so, i've been down it once a long time ago. it was pretty twisty, but had a lot of gravel, so i had to take it easy.

Whenever you want head west to Warrenton on Rt. 17 then take Rt 211 west. One of the best roads I can think of in VA. When you do just e-mail me and I would love to join since I am in Warrenton.
