Welcome to Health Net Federal Services Online Chat Tool for the TRICARE North region. My name is gurbinder_d. I will be assisting you today.
gurbinder_d: may i have your sponsor's ssn and your DOB?
gurbinder_d: what questions did you have specifically concerning TRS?
Raymond : What does this Vision cover as far as contact lenses and glasses?
Raymond : What is my co-pay and generic and non generic presciptions?
gurbinder_d: while on TRS, you are eligible for one routine eye exam every 12 months. this ONLY covers the eye exam itself. a contact lenses exam is NOT covered.
gurbinder_d: eyeglasses/contact lenses are NOT covered under TRS for "corrective vision" purposes (meaning, for "bad vision"), BUT may be covered if diagnosed with an associated medical condition such as infantile glaucoma.
Raymond : How about Lasik?
gurbinder_d: if you are mobilized, you may obtain eyeglasses/contact lenses and/or a contact lenses exam from your military treatment facility. this would be covered by the military while on active duty. It will NOT be covered by TRS.
gurbinder_d: Lasik is NOT covered under TRS.
gurbinder_d: If you are activated, you may inquire about having it rendered at the MTF, the military may cover it for active duty service members.
gurbinder_d: rx copays under TRS: generic $3, brand name $9 ... for 30 day supply from civilian network pharmacy.
gurbinder_d: generic $3, brand name $9 ... for 90 day supply from the tricare mail order pharmacy (ph # 866-363-8667).
gurbinder_d: $9 or 20% costshare for Rx obtained from out of network pharmacy.
Raymond : How about dental coverage on things like bridges, caps, cleanings, and wisdom tooth removals?
gurbinder_d: $22 copay for 30 supply from civilian network pharm. or 90 day supply from tricare mail order pharmacy for "non-formulary" Rx
gurbinder_d: dental coverage is administered by UNITED CONCORDIA ... you will need to verify dental benefits with them by calling 800-866-8499.
gurbinder_d: wisdom teeth extraction is a limited covered benefit of TRICARE through its medical portion.
gurbinder_d: since, the benefit is limited. you may or may not be covered. your oral surgeon will need to submit an authorization request to HNFS/TRICARE to see if you will be covered for wisdom teeth extraction.
Raymond : How good is the catastrophic coverage I.E. a friend of mine became paralyzed in CA and had to be flown to atlanta to go to rehab.
gurbinder_d: the catastrophic cap is $1000 per fiscal year (fiscal year runs october 1st to september 30th). it does NOT include your monthly enrollment fees ($81 individual/ $253 family) but does include your annual deductible.
gurbinder_d: it basically stipulates the maximum out of pocket expenses you will incur per any given fiscal year.
Raymond : OK well thats all the questions I had thank you for your time you have been very helpfull I will pass this info onto the rest of my unit
gurbinder_d: Thank you for using TRICARE Online Services and have
a pleasant evening.
