I talked to a Marine recruiter today about possibly going back in the Marines. I was told there was a good possibility that I won't be able to get back in because of my tatoos. None of them show past a short sleeve shirt and I had them when I was in the Marines so WTF! Bums me out thinking the Marines won't accept an experienced former Marine back in because of some ink.
Stress cards in boot camp???? They didn't have those when I went through. And about the tats...there is a new policy out there I know we had to tell our CO if we had any and people that had them that were visible in a short sleve shirt had to get a waiver to stay in. Pretty gay IMO but I guess that we are supposed to look corporate or some BS like that.
There is not a single service that uses a frigging stress card during initial entry Training. Period, end of story. Don't believe me? Use this link. I have always hated the perpetuation of this lie.
The tatoo policy for the Marines now states that if you had ink done prior to the ban on ink that shows in a short sleeve shirt then you are grandfathered in and you are okay. If you have separated or you are a new recruit considering the Marines and you have ink that shows in short sleeves then you will not become a Marine or be a Marine again.
WOW!!! I thought there was a DoD reg regarding this, not service specific. I guess I'm wrong. In the Air Force, which is more corporate than any of ther other services, the reg says not to have tattoos covering more than 1/4 of the exposed body part. I've pasted the reg below. Mike.
I've been out for a little over 2 years now and I've been thinking about heading back myself. Was stationed at Camp Pen. but now i'm living in Delaware. What other criterea is needed to get back in?
Not allowing tats on a Marine? That's the gheyest shit I've ever heard. What next, you want us Guard guys to shine our boots? Seriously though, that's crap. There has to be a waiver for that.
