Default Thinking of joining Air Force...

So i've been doing a lot of thinking and right now I'm a Certified Flight Instructor. I've been thinking of joining the Air Force as Fighter Pilot.

Does anyone know the height, weight, and eye sight requirements to be a fighter pilot?

I don't know the specifics offhand, but I know the eyesight requirements aren't as stringent as they used to be. How tall/heavy/blind are you? Best thing for you to do would be to contact your local recruiter and find out.

I think color blindness still applies, you can't have any.

well... heres my specs

height: 6'0"
weight: 175.3 (ald 5% body fat)
vision: 23/20 as of August 2006

I'll have to contact them soon. I'm really interested in learning. Only problem is I do have some color blindness but its not nearly as bad as I might make it seem.

Well the colorblindness may be a problem, depending on how bad it is. Everything else looks fine though.

i think there's also an age requirement.

If you wanted to be a cargo plane pilot... i doubt there are ANY weight requirements. you should see some of the reserve pilots we got trying to fit into a flightsuit.... absolutely disgusting.

Kendrick keep that colorblindness shit to yourself. If you fail the test then you fail it. If you pass the test then your colorblindness is not bad enough to disqualify you. Good luck with the rest of it.

Alright y'all, here it is. I am a graduating senior in AFROTC at the University of Colorado and will be commissioning in 27 days. Just recently lost my pilot slot...biggest disappointment of my entire life. In order to become a 'Fighter' pilot, you must first be a regular AF pilot. Everyone trains together, but you will be racked and stacked at Undergraduate Pilot Training and if hot shit, will receive your plane of choice. Here are the BASIC requirements to receive a pilot slot: First of all, you have to be a commissioned officer. 4yrs ROTC, 4yrs Academy, or approx 12 weeks of OTS. You must be taller than 64" and have a sitting height of at least 34'', but be no taller than 77'' with a sitting height no greater than 40". Their are specific weight requirements based on your height, but if you can pass the PFT you should be good (1min pushups, 1min situps, 1.5 mile run). Qualification for potential flying duties requires uncorrected distant vision of no worse than 20/50 (pilot) and 20/200 (navigator), correctable to no less than 20/20 in each eye. Successful completion of the Pseudoisochromatic Plates (colorblind circles) or Farnsworth Lantern color vision tests and the Vision Test Apparatus – Near and Distant or Titmus Stereofly or Randot Stereo or Verhoeff depth perception tests is required. This is where most people get the boot, myself included. Not many people realize they are colorblind until they take these tests. If you are at all colorblind, as I am, you cannot be an AF pilot. Worst feeling in the world, trust me...Anyways, thats about it. If you do meet all of those standards, simply receiving a pilot slot is incredibly difficult. Many things go into whats called your PCSM score including previous flying hours, AFOQT pilot score, TBAS (test of basic aviation skills) scores, in the case of ROTC and Academy your GPA is taken into account, your PFT scores, and most importantly, your Commander's ranking. That's the basics of it all, if you want any more information or any clarification on this long ass rant, let me know. I wish you the best, you will need it...
