Dood... why the devil would you do that? I know the MRE's can be kind of bulky and take up some room but holy crap man! Not to mention that unless you eat that food in like a day or two it is going to start going bad on you. BTW... the wheat snack bread works sweet as a frisby.
To field strip MREs' all you have to do is take out the extra packaging and items you don't want to eat and then put it back in the tan plastic bag, fold then tape it together. You're suppose to keep the main meal in the original packaging to keep it fresh. The main meal bag is vacum sealed so it will not go bad.

Plus, now you're deprived of the one good thing about MRE packaging. You can't see what you have to eat, and don't even have to if you don't want to...

I field pack mine and remove all the unnecessary junk from the kit and then group the different types of portions together, then I add some fruit and trail mix to make up for calories I might have removed from the mix. I would never remove and repack a meal portion though, because you are taking something that was once sterile and exposing it to bacteria, which might just kill you if you are already dehydrated and weak.
Dude, why would you even do that? You cant get any damn smaller than vacuum bags. Just take the main meal out of the cardboard crap, throw away anything you aren't going to eat/use, and then fold over and put a piece of duct tape over it.
