Default Thinking about being a SEAL

Is anyone here one, or know one? I have been looking looking over all the PT testing req's, and really shouldn't have a problem doing them after some conditioning. I am very used to handling firearms, and free diving, so I think I will be able to adapt well. I am 6ft, 170 if that counts. I have watched every training video I can find, and it looks really hardcore, but I know I push past that. It's just hard to believe that I can simply sign up as an SO rate and do it just like that, seems lioke there should be more hoops to jump through. I got a 77 on my ASVAB BTW. End career goal is to work for one of the federal agencies (ATF/DEA, etc). Any guidance is welcomed!

Go for it. My dream was/is to be a SEAL. Theres some issues with my family and my future, but that isnt for this thread.

When you go, give your all, enjoy it, and remember The Only Easy Day Was Yesterday

i have heard some horror stories from SEALS and oh i could say was "holy shit." the mental part will break you down before the physical part.

Just go to their recruiting website and find out what the minimums are physically, work out until you exceed them by a good clip, then go sign up. They will make sure you make it through as long as you show them you want to be there by not quitting or get hurt.

I worked with this one LT several years ago who failed out miserably from SEAL try out but passed the whole Marine Force Recon course with zero problems...That should speak for something...

Give it a try if you make it, you'll know if you really like it . If you don't you just owe the X number of years you signed up for. Pick a rating thats useful on the outside so that if the SEAL thing falls through you'll have a fall back job you like.
