Help w/ Military Jobs...
I've been trying to read up on the jobs the US Coast Guard and the US Air Force, but want what you all really think about it, as opposed to whats written on their sites.
I plan on speaking to a recruiter soon, but I've a few questions about what is involved.
Can I get any insight? I'm serious about this and will be joining as soon as I can.

I can tell you about jobs in the Air Force that are aircraft maintenance related. As with anyone else I will be biased one way or another. Me being biased towards my job because I love it but most would be biased against since it seems most people hate their jobs.
This all comes from people not doing what you are doing, research.
Tell me what you are thinking towards and I can give you my opinion on it if I have one.

Hahaha, you love aircraft maint?
Dude, do yourself a favor and DO NOT pick anything flight-line related, back-shop aircraft jobs arnt too bad but you need to understand that the Air Force needs to train pilots, so they fly the CRAP out of the jets and they break all the freaking time its rediculous, most of the people that work on the line are miserable so therefore they will try to make your life miserable, most of them seem to become alcoholics and nicotine junkies!
Pick a nice desk job, 9 to 5 with a break for food and plenty of time off to do school, because if you work on airplanes, you wont get any of that.
/end rant

I'm Aircrafte Metals Tech. Being a backshop job and easily the best backshop job I have it easy liking my maintenance job. Knowing how to weld, machine and CNC machining comes in handy being a motorcycle guy.
But, yes I will agree flightline jobs are far from the way to go when picking a job.

Guys, Thank you so much for being able to help me out. I'll definitely PM a number of guys.
I'm young (19) and confused and this, of all professions piqued my interest more than any other, and for the longest duration at that.
Again, I really appreciate it and will be contacting a few of you for guidance before I ultimately decide.
But for now I'm exhausted...
