Thinking of heading to Vegas tomorrow from LA, first trip

I was thinking of heading to Vegas tomorrow or Tuesday if there is a strong wind advisory. I've only been riding for a couple months. I am thinking the wind might be the biggest obsticle so I wouldn't be going to fast and would keep in an accelerating low gear to fight against it. Any other obstacles I might run into on this trip? Would the wind be too much to handle?
