Default insurance question

I read that you need a car with state farm to have your bike insured with them. Could i get insurance from them if my dad has his car with them and i try to insure my bike with them????

Another thing.... I am fifteen and i have a ninja 250. I am practicing with it right now so i can go bigger later when i get my liscense. I dont plan on riding a r1 for AWHILE. But i do want to maybe get a r6 after i get my liscense. But i need to practice ALOt and i wont be doing cary shit with it. Does the price for insurance depend on what bike you start out with/experience? like for example i start with a 600r or sv650 then go to r6 then r1. Or just go straight to r6 then r1 or something like that??? I dont want insurance to be crazy expensive just cause i am young ya know. i want to try do as much as possible to help lower insurance.

well any info would help. Thanks

hey there, to answer your question, i'm pretty sure your dad would have to get the insurance, and add you to the policy. also all state is the cheapest that i found, but the rates depend on things like age (15-25 is the worse), size of motorcycle ( 600cc or less is cheaper ), sex ( girls are suppose to be safer ), the msf safty class ( takes 15% off ), and also the style of bike ( sport bikes are more expensive than crusiers ).

being a 15 year old guy without a license, trying to get insurance on a sport bike . sorry dude but you quallify for the most expensive rates.

anyways it doesn't hurt to try, you never know. if you you get a good agent willing to work with you, you might be able to get someting decent. if i were you though i wouldn't expect anything less than 1000 for 6mo.

good luck and hope it goes good for you:smokin

if your dad has a car policy with state farm then you should be able to get insurance with state farm. expect your insurance to be pretty high (considering your age, type of bike, msf, etc). definitely take the msf course! you can learn a lot imho. learn to drive a car before a bike. better to learn your mistakes driving a cager than getting killed on a bike. im not saying dont ride but its totally different than driving in a car. ok ill stop lecturing :b

Is there any 16-18 year olds in here riding sport bikes? If so how much are you paying and which company are you with? And how much are you paying with all state?
Thanks

Default ?

Does class or category of the bike make a diff. also? Like if i were to get the new fz6 or something, thats not really supersport. But you had to pay that much for a magna 750 (im guessing a cruiser type of bike) so I dont think class would make a difference. Or was it because it was a 750cc bike? Thanks

You know it would be easier for you just to call a agent and ask them for a quote for the disffernt type of bikes and sizes for your age. I mean we can give you guesses all day but none of us will know for sure unless they work for an insurance company. Just my .02

yes you can get a quote even though you don't have a license. i called around before i got my license. i wanted to make sure i could afford an insurance. theres no sense of getting a bike if you can't afford the insurance. i even got a quote from progressive thru their website and the premium was too high.
