sorry to hear that. My 01 was running pretty crappy around 15K and I just changed the plugs and all got better. Plugs are a little cheaper than coils though.
Jon is right, plugs are good to change.
Also check/clean/replace your air filter.
One more thing, with the rain we've been having, it is possible to have gotten water in your gas tank. If the other things don't work, drain the tank and check for water.
Is there anything particular that makes you think it is a bad coil?
Since my bike was still under warranty I took it back to the dealership and they were the one that diagnosed the problem. There are at least a dozen or more members on this site having the same problems. Refer to "Warranty and Premature Failures: my bike is now a 2 cylinder".
