I hate this f***-in highway...

Got off work, went by the exchange to do some errands, cruised thru some backroads and got on 78 to Honolulu, ready to cruise in and enjoy an easy ride (with SOME expected traffic) onto H-1 to home. Its almost 7pm on a Thurs - how bad can it be?

Bad...

78 was backed up almost to the Tripler/Punahou exit. I got off almost as soon as I got on at the King Exit and spent the next 30min starting & stopping at lights, enjoying the blistering heat of the engine as the radiator blew the hot air right up my crotch (hard to keep the engine cool when its not moving).

God, I hate H-1...

Man, you're lucky... I've only been there once, and the back roads were awesome (I was in a rental car, tho). I saw a bunch of riders collected about half-way up Haleakala - is that a popular weekend ride?

maui is okay. the only bad thing is, we dont have any type of track or closed road course.

most sundays alot of the stunterz do their thing on that sort of straight away after you pass all the housing. the riders who actually ride their bikes up and down that road usually take a break at one of the scenic points up there near the top. i love running up and down that road. its nice and cool 80% of the year, its usually around 75 degrees.
