Default Anyone on the big island?

I will be moving to Hilo the beginning of august and will also be purchasing a brand new bike (probably 600RR or R6s if i can find one) while I am living down there for the next four years. Anyone else live on the Big Island? I dont know anyone down there and would love to hang out when I get down there.

Is there a yamaha dealer down there?

The Yamaha dealer is about 100 miles from Hilo. Kiser Motorcycles is on the other side of the island in Kona, and they also sell Honda and Kawi. The only dealerships in Hilo sell Suzuki or HD.

yeah I did a little research and found the kiser place and called them. Are they pretty cool or do they want to take you for what they can get? Can you get a good deal or are the bikes more expensive because of being the only dealer on the island?

I also hear it rains a lot in hilo, this bike will be my only mode of transportation there so I will be buying some rain gear

Anyone here live in hilo?

I'm sure the stealerships are just like the ones in Oahu. You can have one shipped from another island for about $400 or one from SoCal for about $800-$1000. Airfare between the islands is about $29-$39 each way, so you can fly in easily to check out a few bikes. I was in Hilo last week on vacation. I think the actual town of Hilo has the highest rainfall of any city in the U.S. I think it's around 130-150 inches a year. I live in Oahu and the scenery is night and day. The big island rocks!! Mike.
