Default Service intervals?

Hi all,

Could someone tell me what the service intervals are for a 2001 R6 and what they consist of,ie,when are the big ones.

Cheers

Jon.

When i took the bike in for the 6000 ML service to the YAMAHA DEALER
I was disgusted to find that they had not changed the oil filter.
When i complained they said it wasnt on the YAMAHA service shcedule. !!!! which maybee the case, but did not fill me with confidence that they had done anything to the bike AT ALL. on closer inspection of the bike i found fresh traces of copperslip around the brakes and they had changed the oil ( a bit too full for my liking)
I knew they hadnt changed it as i change the oil and filter every 2000 mile myself and scratch on the date to the filter. and i mark the Sump plug with a paint marker before it went in.

Any way 8000 mile on the beast now in 6 months and i still cant get enough.

Who said i was paranoid!!!!!!

Ben maybe right but my service book says 6k.

The 99/2000 models were 4k.

When the 2001 came out they had made some minor changes within the engine and extended the service mileage interval.

Mine will be coming up for its 24k service within the next month which is a major service inc valve clearance. Like most others I change oil and filter every 3k, and do not use a yamaha main dealer.

I thought all r6 models were 6k intervals?? Mine has always been done at 6k.(99 model)

Mines just coming up to 24k so it will be the valve clearances soon. Hoping to get away with just a minor service now and do the valves over the coming winter. (unless I trade it in. Quite fancy a mille at the moment and they are going quit cheap)

Mattyr6 are you thinking the same as me that the mileage is getting too much and time for a change. I have been looking and have shortlisted either 02/03 R1 or K3 GSXR.

Unfortunately will not have the money until Sep 1 and the season is almost finished by then.
