Default My new machine

I finally passed my test on the 2nd july on my trusty dt

I shouldnt have went near the dealership, i told myself that i would ride the dt through the restriction period but ended up buying

What a difference! I did buy a 2002 r6 about a year ago but had to sell her as i was having problems passing the test, the first bike i legally rode on the road was an aprillia rs125 so i had a little experience with sportsbikes.
Im getting used to the almighty weight though as i proved after owning the bike for 2 weeks. I was pulling into a layby and lost my footing, before i knew it the bike was on its side. Luckily there are only minor scrapes the clutch linkage cover seemed to take most of the impact, which was replaced for £10.
Ill get some pics of the scratches up as soon as i take some.

Yeah a bit of a funny change in bikes to the r1, though i feel the r1 is easier to ride than the r6. I dont know why that is though i only rode the r6 up and down the street a few times so that might be why lol. The r1 is not restricted as its going to cost me a fortune to get it done, i have had to spend a lot of money on security for the bike as ive had 2 mountain bikes stolen in the last 2 years from my shed. I will get it done though if funds permit.

The bike came with what looked like rust on the cans but ive been told its caked on chainlube thats hardened. I friend told me that the cans are made of titanium and dont rust. What should i use to get it off? Ive tried wd40, fuchs off even tinfoil (which just seemed to smear it about) but with no real success. Someone told me to try wonder wheels for alloys but i dont want to harm the cans.

Oh and thanks to the person that sorted my post out.

Are you actually on a restricted licence at the moment?

If you are why are you riding the R1 unrestricted - cool way of losing your licence and having to do it all again which could prove more costly that getting the restrictors fitted in the first place.

Still nice bike - How much was it?

Yes its a restricted licence, yes i know i could loose it all. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Im not hurting anyone but myself, i dont ride it recklessly nor do i speed. Its funny how once you get a car licence that you could drive a buggatti veyron without an engine restrictor.

I didnt admitt this to get bullied out of riding it though, fat chance at the minute with the weather how it is.

The bike is a 2005 with 5600 miles on it, got it for £5000.

Last thing i wanted to happen in this thread is start an argument.

Well sorry mate but Fuck of and get a Twist and Go. Leave your skull by the roadside when your De-restricted R1 which is breaking every LAW in the country his a poor old pedestrain walking their DOG.

Alternativeley get on a track where you can ride it with and ACU license and do what it is suppose to do, legally, safely adn within the law.

Sermon Ends

^ Have you ever met the bloke? Not having the correct licence does not make him more likely to hit a dog walker. He'll just be fucked if he does.

The internet is such a fucking righteous place.

Not having it restricted won't make him more likely to hit somebody you are right, his inexperience does however. Not having it restricted when that is what his license requires does mean that his insurance will be invalid. Let's hope he only damages his own bike if he has an accident.
