Default Carbs

As you all know my mrs bought a R6 and the bike is well stripped down now just waiting to be put back together.

Trouble is the bike runs like a bag of poo and I have been told that it could be that the carbs have been dyno jetted and with the standard pipe on it it will bog itself down.

Now tick over is very irratick and it feels like its flooding itself from tick over to 8K then above 8k it just revs its arse off the way it should.

Ok dealers cost a bloody fortune to do anything so was going to take out the jets and needles and replace them myself, trouble is I havent got a clue as to whats what on the carbs.
Here is a pic of them, could someone please very kindle write onto these pics as to whats what and give me a general step by step as to what to do to to see if:
A) what size the jets are thats in there
B) what to change them back too

Thanks guys.

Not done to much on the carbs myself but take a look at this write up on fitting a jet kit should be able to reverse engineer it to get back to stock.

cheers for that brym, was a really helpful site

Well after fully stripping them down everything was in order.
jets are the right size and everything was done up tight.
vacumes where sealed nice as though they had never been touched.

carb balabcing will be next when they are back on the bike. but the screws that you turn are still in the same position as the day they where set as the yellow paint is still all intact and inline.

only thing I did find which is probably the cause was the air screw covers had been drilled out and the air screws where set at all different settings, before i took out the air mixture screw i turned them fully in and counted the number of turns this is what i got

carb 1 - 2 1/2 turns out
carb 2 - 1 1/4 turns out
carb 3 - 2 turns out
carb 4 - 3 turns out.

Now my guess is at one time or another there has been bigger jets put in and has since been put back to standard but the person doing the job did not have a clue as to what he was doing.
Now surley all these screws should be the same number of turns out?? sooo next question is by how many turns out do they need to be??? answers on a post card please !:

i am taking the R1 forks to the dealer tomorrow to get bled so they can be fitted to this R6 so will ask them too.

No mention of pilot air screw but it does give a vacume reading.

- Why not try a Ivan jet kit and see if that works?

I donot want any more power out of the bike, its for the Mrs so standard jets will be fine, all I want is for her to run smoothly.

Got everything set back to standard settings now after talking to the dealer so when the bike is all back together i will get the carbs balanced and see where we go from there.
