Default Went to France for the weekend

WOW what a weekend

Left for France friday morning and what a hot summers day it felt like.
Parked up in the dock waiting for the boat to be unloaded and had a chat with loads of other people waiting to make the most of the Bank holiday weekend.

Gets over to France and we ride down to Le mans for the night, nice easy ride cruising at about 90 to 100 mph, then the following day we head off down to Tours. Now the weather was baking hot 25 degrees so it was a nice run taking in the smaller roads to get some decent "bends action".

Gets to the hotel and off out for a nice meal, then took the bike ona good fast twisty road and then parked up when me ribs got too sore from the mrs deciding she had had enough and wanted to stop for a bit.

The bike does look good in the sun. This was on the side of the road with a nice big feild behind of it. we stayed for aout 10 mins then ity was off back to the hotel intime for tea.

On sunday we headed back to this old peice of track that we think was the old 24hour track as its part of the road from Le Mans to Tours. we decided to have a bit of a play and I have found a new addrenelin rush.
We dropped off the girls and headed out for a serious bit of play going back and forth along this old track, got some video of it but its not worth putting up as the mrs was useing the cam and its not that good, any way back to thew new addrenelin rush, started off down the road and knocks it into 2nd just as I was rounding a bend and onto a long straight, and winds her open, to the stop the throttle goes and the red line beckons, then back off slightly and engage 3rd, to the stop again and the red line comes into view far too quickly, so backs off again and hooks 4th, glances at the speedo and it reading 160mph, so then has to brake sharp as there is another corner coming up.

So the addrenelin rush you are asking yourself, where is it, we its hitting 160mph in 4th not even close to the red line and knowing you have ANOTHER 2 gears to go, fook me I got off the bike after another 10 mins play in the twisty roads and was buzzing for what seemed like forever.

Any way after all this addrenelin running through my blood we headed off to find the real track and here is the entrance to it

We headed back to the hotel shortly after and got ready to pack our bags as we had to come home.

Gets up early as we wanted a good start and it was just starting to rain, fook we thought, 4 hours riding and we are going to get wet, so it was on with the water proofs and we set off, we makes it back to St Malo in good time concidering the weather, 3 hours early for the ferry so we has lunch and waits for the time to board.
Arrive home and unpacks everything , and just waiting now for 2 1/2 weeks time when I will be doing it all again except this time it will be just me on the proper bike R1) and heading up to donnington.

Just a quick word of warning to all you people that are planning touring trips this year, the police are getting sh*t hot on bikes over in France and will fine you big style, anything over 105MPH and they will fine you hard, there was a 4 blokes got done from over here in guernsey just last year, caught speeding, 130mph and they got £750 fine and there licences where taken off them and posted back to their house so they had to hire a vehicle to get the bikes home, so in all it cost them just under £1000. BE WARNED

Heres me sizing up an imaginary pair

Donot know what i was talking about but it looks fun

Sounds like a good trip Spike

The roads around Le Mans was it part of the Public Road used for the 24 hour car race??? I have the circuit map here so will scan and post up.

We camped in 2006 in the South West corner of the track "Just Outside" after the end of the car race I walked down the circuit to get back to the campsite. Got the map "given" to me by a marshall as I just asked for a copy, saying I was lost and needed to get back to the campsite.

Best part of the car race is walking down the track, if you goto a corner where you know there was a smash you can collect bits of car for free Or even just bits of rubber from the cars.

Nice write up & pics Spike, looks like you had a really good time. Lets hope for similar weather come the end of the month.
Where is your bike in that 2nd pic ? All I can see is 2 wheels, frame , tank and a Shoei lid mysteriously floating in the air

good write up. i haven't been to france on a bike but i've heard plenty of good stories of riding there. i have always been told the police are usually quite bike friendly, aswell as most of the car drivers. however a £750 speeding fine doesn't sound much fun.
