190 rear on R6
Who does or has ran a 190 rear on their R6?
Why run the 190? Is it better for the track?

s-e-a-r-c-h button. Hate to do that to a guy with such a pretty bike, there is alot of discussion on this.
190 is going to give potentially more side grip but is a heavier tire. Heavier robs some hp and will make it less quick to turn in than a 180. Dunlop makes a good 190 but that is where their r&d went. Most including wss (pirelli 180) are using 180. Michelin has a great line of 180 rears including the new "D" and "E" rears that are dual compound.. soft edges for side grip at lean with firmer compound on the middle and middle/side so they dont wear as fast as the single compound Pr3 (great tire, just very soft and did not last long time).

if you can give up the hp the grip is great...I used it for my 05 but it had an FX motor in it so hp wasnt an issue. They last longer and in my experience turn in very well if the geometry is set up for them.
Like mentioned above, they are heavy, you loose about 7 hp. I decided to use them, but I am not the smoothest on the throttle.

I had trouble with the 190 on my 636, but i seem to like it better on the r6.. at nelson it was amazing because there are no quick transitioning turns so i was on the gas hard all the time..
that;s the benefit of the 190 - earlier, harder throttle... more contact patch, more traction..
the 180 is nice for smaller tracks with alot of "s" turns or slower turns.. like Summit JC.. i'll have the 190 on it this weekend there and i'm sure ill hate it, but ill let you know..

I run Dunlop 209gp's 190/55 on mine. When I bought the bike it was set up for that, and after three days at the track on it, I'm sold on the 190 (dunlop at least). The bike has 130hp anyway, which is a lot more than my 600rr that I ran 180's on, so I can't compare on a performance hit with the larger tire. However, the thing will stick, and I noticed that I could get on the throttle a lot earlier and harder. I haven't had any trouble with turn in either, and it flicks side to side pretty well.

SS engine build by KWS, full Leo Vince system, PCIII, etc.
I've had about 5 minutes worth of riding on a stock 06 r6, so I really can't compare how this one is to a stock r6. I have ohlins 25mm forks and an ohlins ttx shock set up for my weight too, so all that power is being delivered efficiently to the ground. I've only had it for two months but have used it for three track days so far. I'm pretty happy with it.
