Default My (mixed) experience with Tromex bodywork

I picked up some brand new Tromex bodywork for cheap and got it rattle can painted and the paint seemed to stick on well. However, the body work (upper and lower) does not fit nearly as nice as my Sharkskinz and takes quite a bit of effort to get the Dzus fasteners locked together. Plus, I cannot lock up 1 out of 4 of the fasteners since the fit isn't good enough. Not nearly as flexible as Sharkskinz. Furthermore, the lower is too close to the headers on the left side of the bike, resulting in some melting of the bodywork. I have a full Hindle system on my 05.

Unfortunately, I managed to crash on a slow right hander (brake 120mph to about 50mph) right before the apex and low sided. Bodywork took very little damage and seemed to hold up well, but could be because rearsets and frame slider and swingarm pivot slider took up most of the damage?

Anyways, seems like you truly get what you pay for. I think I will stick with my sharkskinz even though they have plently of rash since the ease and fit are just so convenient. Tromex is a good deal, but I don't want to deal with the hassle since I have a race bike and the race glass is always coming on and off.

I will go out on a limb and guess you mounted the upper first?? You have to mount the lower first. Your sounds like it fits like blueblurs who didnt listen to me and mounted the upper first. I started with my lower and it fits identical to my sharkskinz.

yep, same here, i mounted my Lower first, then my upper, just like what was said on the fourms here, and it came out perfect, no haggling around, or dremel tools or anything like that, went right on perfect, lower, upper, then tail section, and it fits like a glove, nothing rubs, and no headder problem

yea, your gonna have to adjust and redrill, then take some bondo to cover up the old hole, then sand it smooth, and then repaint it with the the rattle can

I have a question, I got my tromex body work with wrong fender,They emailed me and said they would send the right one. It's been over a month and no response and I've sent 3 emails since then. Can anybody help? Also I have read there is suppose to be a piece that connects the front to the air tubes to fill in the gap. If there is was it suppose to come with the bodyy work? Thanks any info would help.

the piece that connects the ram air is not needed if you fit everything up right. PM me your name and info and I will look into your fender situation.

mounting the lower first is crucial!

First of all you can't compare sharkskinz to anything that is 1/2 the price...
Second, I have to agree with Dennie - it sounds like the holes were drilled incorrectly - You can just glass over them, sand and redrill as previously stated.
I've got a couple of pieces from Tromex and I've seen Dennie, BlueBlur, and Jay's sets and I'm very impressed. I will be buying a set of Tromex bodywork for my new bike next year for sure...I just hope I don't need it this season

This thread is silly...he bought body work that was already drilled by someone else and he said it doesnt fit. What if my 10 year old drilled my mount holes? My kit wouldnt fit either!

The tromex kits fit is awesome if you mount it correctly. I will take some pics of mine this weekend. The header clearance is great, the mid meets the upper perfect and the ram air lines right up with the upper.
