Default sprocket

ok i read a lot of guys talk about -1 front +2 rear. what will it do to my bike if change to this sprocket mod. will it make more torquey for easy wheelie, if so will it make my bike loss top end? i still like to ride hard, fast, but SAFE lol

-1 +2 is an awesome setup. way more "torquey". wheelies are much more easy to learn. you lose a few MPH off your top end but who cares, why not have the power where you want it, down low.

your spedometer will be a tad (more) off than factory but i just go by the tachomoter. 6K is 60mph 7k is 70mph etc... your odometer will read faster also

i'm at -1 +3 right now but i'll be to +4 soon

Your speedometer will say you're going 60mph when your actual speed is closer to 50mph. Your speedo is run off the tranny, not the rpm of the wheel.

Think of it like this:

On a bicycle the speed is read off of the rotation of the wheel, so no matter how you fudge with the gears the speedo will tell you the (relatively) accurate speed.

On a motorcycle the speedo goes by the speed of the rotational speed at the first sprocket. Adjusting the size of the 2 sprockets will influence your speed and force put to the ground.

A good read here http://auto.howstuffworks.com/speedometer2.htm

It's going to be more than a "tad" off too. It's a percentage, so the faster you are going the more it's off. I went -1/+1 on my '02 R6 and it was off by over 20MPH when I was topped out.

Cosign on the -1/+2 setup. Great for the street.

think of your speedo and your odo as the same thing... at 60 you are going to ring up 60 miles on the odo. If you are actually going 52 you still just run up 60 miles when it sould have been 52..
